short story on sunetra and lalo taming a gryphon together? 🥺
Throughout their adventures through Summerset and Elsweyr they’d stumble upon lone Gryphon eggs left in abandoned nests, occasionally finding the slain parents nearby. As history tells it, you need a proper fire and song to make the eggs hatch, and luckily Sunetra’s bard skills came in handy. Unlike the Welkynar, they did not intend to follow through with the bonding rituals as that was specific and unique to the Welkynar themselves and they didn’t intend to make them mounts, so they tamed them the old-fashioned way with time and effort. It took some months in Artaeum (where the Psijics were helping to raise them in return of getting research) training them and getting to know them for them to even slightly trust them. Turns out they enjoy music, who knew~ When they’re big? It’s possible they might allow a rider but nobody’s accomplished that without the Welkynar ritual, so only time will tell on that one. Regardless, Laloriaran and Sunetra are satisfied with just having them tamed. Their names are as follows: Snowcap Gryphon (female) - Alata Pale-Plume Gryphon (male) - Varlais Fledgeling Gryphon (male) - Sunna Firepoint Gryphon (female) - Belle

OH GOSH I HAVE SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT I’ll do this one in the context of Laloriaran teaching her to use a sword dfgjkh
After she rescues him he spends a few days getting his energy back, that first day mostly spent alone as she was busy getting Vanus but after that is over they are hardly apart, they have a lot to catch up on since Glenumbra after all, plus that unspoken desire of wanting to get to know each other better, driven by a feeling they cannot fully understand...yet.
She mentions in a passing word how she had to train with Abnur Tharn to use her staff properly and Laloriaran questions if she ever used a weapon prior, to which she replies that she barely used just a staff in the past but hasn’t picked up a sword yet. Needless to say he is a bit stunned, all this combat and she never learned to use other weapons should the enemy knock her staff out of her hand? That had to be rectified.
In the training grounds he let her use his sword, one of the first and only other being to have wielded it besides himself. She’s quite awkward and wobbly with it at first but Laloriaran walks behind her and moves his hands to her forearms, guiding their position. In some ways it felt like a dance, Laloriaran keeping pace with her to guide his sword to where she desired. Needless to say his touch was gentle and not unwelcome and Sunetra absolutely went a little red in the face, him included, especially when their voices became low whispers to each other as some guild members walked by. And there isn’t even any skin contact, they’re both armored 😩
She’s able to replicate his moves quicker than he anticipated, swinging at the dummy with precision and balance. He’d occasionally return to help position her, fixing her stance and giving her examples. Though he found himself lost in his thoughts as he watched her, something about the way she used his greatsword unlocked another one of those strange warm feelings he’s been having lately (aka ‘wait... this is hot.’)
This of course was the first of many training sessions, and over time they’d move on to spar each other to which Sunetra actually knocks him down 🤭 And he’s...quite impressed 🤭

ahh ty ty ;; it’s fun and confusing because there’s a variety of kinds of gods and spirits too! they even give lore as to how you can “kill” the godlike bosses and they just return via re-summoning or reincarnation.
i’m no loremaster but i’ve gotten really good at simplifying it all, as bdo’s story is really good but just...presented kinda awkwardly at times (akin to a mix of zelda and dark souls), which does turn away the people who don’t wanna go digging for it ;w;
hopefully this supposed new quest rework will streamline stuff better too! crossing my fingers for new cutscenes
