Gray partridge Perdix perdix
A bird found across Eurasia and introduced to North America, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand as a game bird. They are a seed-eating species, but the young in particular take insects as an essential protein supply. The parents lead their chicks to the edges of cereal fields, where they can forage for insects.
While they are globally ranked as Least Concern, gray partridges have declined in Britain and Ireland.
