Makki di roti/paronthe
I had a wee epiphany today. I went to the gurdwara and whilst in the Langar hall going to get food, the gentleman asked me a question. It's about the bread. I usually wait for him to open the two bowls up to show me, and point. I don't know why but all of a sudden I understood him. I wonder how many other times I've been asked if I wanted "makki di roti/paronthe" and not understood the phrase completely? And yet...I know what all those words mean. It's probably just that I wasn't used to the accent/sound of the words. So anyhow I was finally able to say paronthe and he only opened up that cloth and asked "two" and I said "ikk". :-) yay!!
