Feeling pretty blech today. Have a stomach ache. And I was thinking âif the werdos got sick, theyâd take care of each other pretty goodâ.
Sprialled into this. Please let me vent my emotional needs to be cared for through werdo yuri.
It was an average day in the castle of Cold IslandâŚand not a particularly good one for Maggpi. The poor Werdo girl was huddled up on her bed, surrounded by blankets and with her polar teddybear Mr. Snowflake next to her. She was shivering uncomfortably and wore an ice pack upon her head between her horns.
âWow, what a fever!â yelped Tawkerr as he examined the thermometer heâd just placed in his sickly friendâs mouth. Itâd been filled with a frightening level of red liquid â just as heâd feared. He tightened the mask over his face to make absolute sure he was protected from as much potential germ contagion as possible. âYepâŚthatâs the Werd Flu, alright.â
âI feared this would happen,â muttered Strombonin, standing next to him. âWhen Stoowarb came to hang out with her yesterday, he didnât look so good himself. I suspect he had a bad case of Werd Flu himself.â
âUgh, that dummy canât keep his germs to himself, canât he?â Tawkerr groaned, palming his face with his claws.
Seeing her fellow Cold Island-dweller so frustrated, Maggpi couldnât help but feel guilty. âIâmâŚIâm sorry,â she sniffled, âI donât meant to str-â
Tawkerr quickly calmed down, and (putting a glove on first) put a reassuring hand on the periwinkle-furred girlâs shoulder. âRelax, Mags. Iâm not mad at you, you canât help getting sick.â He stroked her shoulder gently, âYou should just take the day off. Bbli$zardâs willing to sing in your place, okay?â
The Werdo girl gave another sniffle, dragging her fluffy wrist above her mouth. âO-Okay.â And with that, the poor girl turned onto her side and closed her eyes, still shivering intensely.
The male Werdo and the Mythicalâs hearts sank at the sight. They never liked seeing their sweet, gentle gal pal feeling so down on her luck. Not when she was usually such a bubbly, affectionate monster.
As Tawkerr turned to leave, Strombonin put one of his claws on his arm, as if to get his attention. He turned to the Mythical. âWhat is it?â
Strombonin glanced back at the shivering Maggpi, who let out a few weak coughs. Then he turned to the male Werdo, âI thinkâŚI think we should call a certain someone over. That should cheer her up.â
Tawkerr immediately realized who Strombonin was talking about â though there was reluctance in his mind. âAre you sure?â he asked, âWerd Flu is extra contagious among WerdosâŚâ
âAs if sheâd care,â Strombonin shrugged, âWhen it comes to her girlfriend, Parlsona has absolutely no sense of self-preservation. Sheâll do anything to make Maggpi happy, and thatâd definitely include risking a bad case of Werd Flu.â
Tawkerr had to admit it. Strombonin made a good point. And if Parlsona found out that Maggpi had struggled through something without the other monsters telling her, sheâd never let them hear the end of it. She just wanted her girlfriend to be happy⌠even if it meant getting the business end of a contagious virus, and to Tawkerr, that was admirable.
âAlright,â he resigned, âIâll call her.â
Within five minutes of receiving the call from Tawkerr that her girlfriend was sick, Parlsona had already hopped onto the Skyship from Plant Island and raced over to Cold Island, bouquet of flowers in hand.
Yet to Parlsona, those five minutes felt too damn long. She needed to be with her girlfriend as soon as possible. Maggpi needed her.
Luckily, the Werdo girl soon arrived upon the snowy docks of Cold Island, where Strombonin was waiting for her.
Parlsona immediately noticed that behind Strombonin, the Cold Island song was not being performed as she remembered itâŚas the Dandidoo chorus finished crooning, bbli$zard stepped onto a rock and began rapping out the familiar verse.
Look at the stars in the big black ink!
Tell me what you feel and tell me what you think!
Is it cold outside?
Is it cold out?
Seeing this, dread quickly set into the tall Werdo. How bad was this sickness that someone else had to sing her part for her?
She quickly put one of her paws on Stromboninâs back, asking âWhere is she?â
âSheâs in her room in the castle,â Strombonin explained, âIâm glad youâre here. Go cheer her up.â He gave an uncomfortable glance towards bbli$zard, âHearing him sing her part is making me uncomfortable.â
âThank you, Strombonin,â Parlsona told the Mythical in gratitude, then before anyone could say anything, she rushed towards the Castle.
Maggpi wasnât sure how much time had passed since Tawkerr and Strombonin had left her to her own devices. She wasnât sure if it was a minute or an hour. The time just seemed to blur together, too much for her sickened body to comprehend.
She let out a shaky huff of despair. This sucked.
Then a fit of weak coughs flew out of her mouth before she even had time to process that feeling.
âGalvana help meâŚâ thought the Werdo miserably, âWhat did I do to deserve this?â Then a pause, as she looked down at her shaking hands and matted fur. âYou knowâŚbesides being so weird, and cold, and everything else stupid about me?â
Then a knock came at the door.
Hesitantly, Maggpi turned onto her other side, and croaked âWho is it?â
Thatâs when she heard it. That angelic, heartwarming giggle.
âIâll let you guess.â
With all the energy she had, Maggpi rose from her position and gazed towards the door, in pure surprise. âP-Parly?!â
Then the door opened, and there she wasâŚstanding there looking as beautiful as ever, with that tender smile on her face and those shimmering golden-blue eyes of hers.
âGasp!â she laughed, feigning surprise as she revealed the bouquet of flowers she had hidden behind her back, âHow did you know?!â
Maggpi allowed herself a little laugh, âI might be sick, but I still remember what your gorgeous voice sounds like.â
Then, she turned her body away, but still kept her eyes on Parlsona, blushing in happiness but still a little bit of sickness-induced misery. âIâmâŚIâm surprised you came here to comfoet meâŚespecially when you know how gross and contagious Werd Flu is.â
Then, all of a sudden, her breathing hitched. Parlsona was quick to figure out what was going to happen. She ran over, grabbed one of the tissues in the box of Kaynex next to Maggpi, and handed it over to her.
Taking it immediately, the poor shorter Werdo soon let out a tiny little âHyehâŚheh⌠eh-tchew!â The force of her sneeze caused her body to jolt gently. Without any hesitation, Parlsona put a hand on her girlfriendâs shoulder as she blew her nose upon the tissue she was given.
âBless you!â the concerned taller Werdo said, âAww, my poor girlfriendâŚâ She rubbed Maggpiâs shoulder gently, âI canât imagine how miserable this must make you.â
âYeah,â sniffled the periwinkle-furred monster, âThe Werd Flu is not really my idea of a good time.â
For a few quiet moments, Parlsona stood next to her girlfriend, placing the bouquet of flowers onto the girl's bedside table and continuing to stroke her shoulders as she leaned into her touch. Silence prevailed, except for the odd sniffle coming from the sickly short girl.
Then, all of a sudden, before Maggpi could say anything on the matter, Parlsona was climbing into her bed with her.
âWh-whuh?â mumbled the periwinkle-furred monster, âWhat are you doing?â
âWhat do you think Iâm doing?â Parlsona responded in amusement, âIâm getting into your bed so we can cuddle.â
âWh-wha-hyeh-chew!â Maggpi squeaked, interrupted by another sneeze which she quickly buried into another tissue. âWhat?! No! Youâll get siiiiick!â She squealed in anxiety, rolling onto her side and shivering. Parlsona giggled at this, Maggpi was so adorable when she whined like this.
âAccept the inevitable, I want snuggles,â the taller Werdo chuckled, quickly grabbing her shorter girlfriend around her torso and pulling her closer to herself. âAnd besidesâŚI donât really care if I get sick.â
Maggpi froze a bit, then turned towards her girlfriend. âYouâŚâ A sniffle, âYou donât?â
âNot at all!â her girlfriend chuckled, âNot if it means I get to cuddle my amazing, adorable girlfriend who clearly needs someone to snuggle with her until she feels happy again. I can handle a little Werd Flu, honestly. What I canât handle is seeing you feeling so miserable and feeling like you need to protect me from some silly illness. I can get through it â I just want to make you feel loved, darling.â
Hearing those words from her girlfriend, Maggpi could feel her heart warming up with glowing joy and appreciation. No matter what the risk, Parlsona was always there for her â even if it meant getting herself sick, just so she could make her feel happy. Why did Galvana choose to bless a monster like her with a girlfriend this⌠utterly perfect?
Then, with that, Maggpi allowed herself to relax, and buried herself into her girlfriendâs furry body. âYou got me,â she admitted, âLetâs get cuddling. Just as long as you let me look after you if you get sick too, okay?â
âYay!â cheered the taller girl adorably, âItâs a promise! Looks like itâs time for Nurse Parlsona to work her cuddle-magic!â
With that, the two girls surrendered themselves to the warmth of the moment, clinging to each other and nuzzling each other, occasionally peppering one anotherâs faces with kisses.
For that moment, Maggpi found her sickness fading to the back of her mind, as her world was surrounded by the warmth of her girlfriendâs soft embrace and the gentle feeling of her smooches upon her cheeks and forehead. There was a part of her who was still concerned for the potential contagion of her flu â but if Parlsona truly wasnât worried about it, then Maggpi believed she should let go of her fears as well. Having a girlfriend who cared for her to this extent was a feeling quite like any otherâŚand it was a feeling she knew Parlsona shared as well.
This was their moment of pure, perfect blissâŚflu or no flu.
The next day, Tawkerr entered the girlsâ bedroom with a grimace of exhaustion all over his face, carrying a pot of vegetable soup in his claws.
âUnbelievable,â he muttered, âI told Strombonin this would happen. And now I have two sick Werdos to look afterâŚâ
Sure enough, as Maggpi sat up to look at him, so too did Parlsona â and she now had the same dishevelled, sickly appearance of her girlfriend. Yep, the Werd Flu had set into her alright. Nonetheless, she gave him an awkward, but happy grin, âSorry, Tawkerr. You know as well as I do that Iâll do anything for my girlfriend â even if it means I get sick in the process.â
âI admire that,â Tawkerr admitted, setting the soup pot on the bedside table, gently moving aside the flowers Parlsona brought yesterday, which were now sitting in a vase. âBut honestly, sometimes it feels like Iâm the only Werdo with any self-preservation skills.â
Letting out a few coughs as her still-sickly girlfriend rubbed her back to reassure her, Parlsona gave a shrug, âMaybe you are. But just knowâŚeven if Iâm sick, Iâm happy as long as my girlfriend is here. Besides...she did promise she'd look after me to the best of her abilities, as well.â
âThat I did," Maggpi confirmed, stroking her girlfriend's hair and kissing her cheek. "And I guess now that youâre sick too, that means you can cuddle me without any risks,â she chuckled, between her own sniffles. Then, for a peaceful moment, the two girls nuzzled their faces together, purring gentlyâŚbefore turning away for a moment to let out some sneezes.
âHeheh-tchiew!â
âHuh-choo!â
Tawkerr jumped back, tightening the face mask he was still wearing. âGeez, you two, watch the saliva spray,â he scolded half-jokingly, âIâm going to check on Stoowarb, okay? You two just spend some time resting.â
âAye-aye, Tawk,â Â Parlsona nodded towards her friend.
âThanks for looking after us,â Maggpi told him in gratitude, grabbing the pot of vegetable soup and poking a spoon into it, stirring up some of the gentle, delicious brew.
âNo problem, girls,â Tawkerr replied. While his mask hid it from view, a sincere smile was on his face. âLooking out for each other is what Werdos do.â
âEven if it means risking catching a flu from their loved ones?â Parlsona joked, with a smile of her own as Maggpi started to feed her the soup Tawkerr made for them, gazing up at her with an expression full of pure love.
Tawkerr rolled his eyes fondly, sighing. âYeah. Even if.â
Perhaps Strombonin was right. Asking Parlsona to come over to Cold Island was a great idea after all.
