i watched the backrooms yesterday and seeing people say it sucked pisses me off so badly because tell me you don't understand the backrooms without telling me you dont know anything about the backrooms. ive seen people say there was no story and that it was too character driven. you do realize a movie about the backrooms needs to be character driven, right? the entire point of the backrooms is that uncanny anxious feeling that you're not alone but you don't really know. i loved that about the first part of the movie, tbh (spoiler warning from here) i didn't love when they added pirate clark bc it took away from that aspect. but also the whole point of pirate clark was showing how the backrooms operate. they need people. its a slightly off reflection/memory of our world. i genuinely want to know what people expected out of it because this is exactly what i wanted from a movie about the backrooms. its psychological horror. even the big scary monster is a manifestation of clark's unresolved resentment and anger. maybe people wanted a movie of just async employees studying the backrooms idk, but what we got in my opinion is how it should have been done. and you can't make a backrooms movie that isn't character driven, otherwise it's just a big empty room. a movie about people running from a monster the whole entire time with big jumpscares and stuff would've felt cheap and not actually scary. we needed that dinner table scene with clark and mary and we needed an ambiguous ending. the backrooms are supposed to be unknown. that's the best part about the movie, they didn't really answer any questions.

guys I started watching the sandman and oh my fucking god I think this is my new favorite show i just started episode 9 like I'm ten minutes in or something but its insane. its so queer I love it so much and its just like so normalized I love it so much I cried watching the first episode for no reason other than paul and alex got to grow old together and he called him darling and I was like omg. like not even to mention the plot which is incredible I'm so invested but just like its so unapologetically queer and just they do it so well and like this is why representation matters guysssss like there was a drag queen character who isn't made into a joke or like anything its just what they like to do like what you never see that in media. its just everything about it is insane and ahfdjafdsfdshjfhjs has anyone seen this show I need to talk to someone and if you haven't go watch it omg

i hate heteronormativity. its so ingrained in straight people (and even queer people, but i see it in my straight friends a lot) even if they're allies. i suggest a character is gay and even my friends are like well idk there's not enough evidence that they are. like dude is there any evidence that they're straight? that's just as much of an assumption as me saying they're gay. how are you not understanding this. why are you laughing at me. why do you think it's ridiculous for me to headcanon this. "i don't think that's what the author intended" i dont care?? i feel like im going insane talking to some of my straight friends about that. and don't even get me started on when you try to suggest a character is trans.
