[do not reblog]
Something interesting I’ve never noted here, before my parallel life “started” for me—before I slipped through from this one to that one—I would draw and be drawn to different things, which after coming back and revisiting those memories actually tie in with my parallel life. I’m not sure if it was simply me “remembering in the other direction” as I call it, remembering things that haven’t happened yet or didn’t happen in this version of events, ect., or if it’s some kind of timeline thing; ex. a parallel life came in the middle of another, but also technically before, so memories bled over that way. In any case, I find it very interesting. For awhile it really confused me, but I’ve settled into a sort of “it is what it is” now and stopped trying to untangle my personal experience of time. Who knows what’s when? I sure don’t.
When I was fourteen, like many other times during this life as a child, I drifted into another dimension. There, I had a parallel life. I lived in a village, and in that world there was no sun and no sunrise, instead the sky would just brighten during the daytime and darken during the night. The stars, or what might have been planets, along with what I called a moon, were so large and blinding that lamps and streetlights were something no one had ever even thought to create.
At night, it was so bright out that every shadow cast by a tree or home would be pitch black. The dirt was a strange gray that I couldn’t quite place, it almost seemed to change from morning to night. It was incredibly smooth and soft, and never stuck to anything, instead falling away from objects as cleanly as air.
The sky’s colors changed depending on specific times and weren’t affected by weather or season, and I only ever saw clouds during daybreak and early light, oddly. When the sky would start brightening the purples and blues of the night would cast a sheer, soft pink onto the surface of the clear blue water near our home. Just like in this gif. It’s what inspired me to write this post.
And, just as magnificently, the sky would then fade into the gorgeous gentle gold expected of the first hours of day.
I could go on and on just describing the nature of that world. Like how there was a specific time just before what would count as midday that reminded me so much of Earth, when the sky would be cloudless and bright blue. I miss it......
I so miss the sky back home. As much as I cherish this world’s beauty, nothing here can compare and it breaks my heart.
The stars here are so far away, you can barely see them. Their light is so faint, people need streetlights to see at night. The moon here rises every night, not just on those special ones, but even it is too distant, too dim.
The sky here is beautiful.
But it makes me feel cold.
