What is something you hyperfocus on in your portrayal?
π SOMETHING YOU HYPERFOCUS ON IN YOUR PORTRAYAL?
it's rare for me to take on a canon character, so when i do that canon material means something to me as far as the portrayal goes, it's something i want to acknowledge, and i try my best to dig deep and pull from it.
with rogue this resulted in my hyperfocusing on the way it's made crystal clear in canon ( written down and plainly stated ! ) that there was a moment where she shut down and packed her feelings away to the point where that specific instance, summed up by the word SURVIVE, was not only slapped across the chest of her 2077 character model but also became her url once i decided to throw my hat in the ring.
this moment became worthy of hyperfixation to me because surviving is who she became, it became ALL she was, so to see people ... not quite get that, was real fucking aggravating. like, ok, call her a bitch all you want - nothing wrong with being a bitch! but the complete lack of acknowledgment when it came to trauma really made my brain go survival, survival, survival, how do they not see this.
it also comes into play when thinking about the afterlife ( the club, not post death ) and the way people automatically tend to go "oh gross she got that because of XYZ " without, again, acknowledging what it actually means to her, what it represents. that place, both her role in running it and the building itself, it safety. an impenetrable fortress where nothing can get in ( i.e. hurt her ) without her direct say so.
TLDR: a lot of my portrayal is hyperfocused on the permanent emotional damage one takes on when survival means no longer allowing yourself to feel.
