if jim learned abt the vulcan hand thing from a book he'd probably go the next week hyper-aware of spock's hands. he'd chalk it up to a heightened sense of cultural sensitivity, but there's no good way to explain his frustration when a woman almost touches spock's fingers or his odd excitement when spock hands him objects. eventually spock grabs his wrist while they're running to get away from some awful alien creature and the whole time jim thinks he's going to go insane
a lot of times uhura's portrayed as cold, competent, a straight up badass, which seems consistent with her aos self, but honestly? tos uhura, while incredibly intelligent and super competent, is also often unsure of herself. she gets nervous kinda easily. it's actually super cute; in the mirror world she is scared of the whole situation. this is where her real bravery comes in: she still goes up to Evil Sulu and distracts him at immense personal risk, despite her fear. i guess i've just seen a lot stories where uhura's perfect at everything and a human goddess etc etc, but she's not! and that's whats nice about her! she's a very warm person, very human.
again, she IS intelligent. she IS a badass. she IS wonderful at her job. but she's got a very human softness to her that i kinda dont see in a lot of fanon depictions. i don't know. as someone who is reflexively polite in professional settings i deeply relate to her tos vibe

love how dedicated kirk is to putting spock in beanies. he doesn't even try to get spock a different kind of hat or anything. my headcanon is that kirk actually asks spock to come with him on undercover missions in part because spock looks really hot in a beanie. of course kirk is too common sense to admit that to himself, so in his internal monologue hes all like, "hes the best man for the job!" but secretly its all about the beanie.
i wonder if kirk is ever picking out outfits for the day and then pauses over that iconic green shirt thinking "i bet spock would find it illogical for me to wear this instead of my usual uniform. i wonder if it ever... distracts him" and then he tries not to be happy whenever spock glances over at him. but he is.
sometimes i remember the scene where spock walks in on jim shirtless and i go a little insane. they wrote that. and then in later episodes when jim accepts calls from spock half naked its like. jim buddy i know you wanna show off the goods but have a little compassion for the guy pining his ears off for you jesus
