@heavenismcdanno alright, are you ready for this? (This would be too long in asks, I’d be spamming you and with how shotty my memory is, I’d ramble and forget what I’d just sent so I’m tagging ya~)
PapaSteve!
I’ve probably portrayed Steve as a father plenty of times before but this came to mind today! I was at the doctor and there was a toddler there for a check-up and poor darling wasn’t happy about it. Whimpering and fussing and on the way home I just...can you imagine PapaSteve having to endure his baby getting a check-up?????
Because he’s a military man, Steve knows the importance of being up to date with vaccinations and ‘being cleared’ by doctors(he might not be the best patient but he understands the importance) so he knows that these doctor visits are important. They’ll assess their child’s growth and make sure there isn’t anything wrong with their baby.
But their baby, like most babies, aren’t too keen on being checked over at the doctors. Being taken from their parent’s protective hold( Steve being very reluctant to hand the baby over, arms still stretched out when it’s taken away anyway) and placed on a scale, having the blood pressure taken feels weird and they don’t like it(Steve wanting to reach out and take the damn thing off), and then...the pinching of the index finger to draw a drop of blood, and then the vaccines...or rather, the very sharp needle poking into their baby’s delicate body!
Steve literally pacing the too-small room like a wild and caged animal...literally a parental animal at the zoo when their cub is taken by zoo officials, but being restless about it...he’s big and bulky and in more or less of an attack mode. It’s worse when their baby starts wailing and reaching out and crying out, “Dada!” and Steve is pained!
The doctor suggests Steve wait outside and Steve leaves for a nanosecond before the door is ripped opened and Steve’s back, nostrils flared and feeling guilty because how could he abandon his child like this? “No one gets left behind, I’m not going anywhere!”
Finally. Finally, it’s over and Steve all but swoops his baby back into his arms while Danny talks about next visits and stuff. Steve is rocking their baby as the baby clings to him and whimpers. Steve is shhing them comfortably, peppering kisses and he lets Danny drive while he holds on to their baby for practically the whole day.
