Y'all me and my quest for Swedish anime dubs are so funny.
I was bidding to get another swedubbed Lady Oscar VHS in my collection, BUT a guy came in literally 30 seconds before the bidding ended and swooped me off.
Bummer. But that's just how it is sometimes.
SUDDENLY OUT OF THE BLUE THOUGH, they advertised for another swedubbed anime on VHS. Lady Lady!
I know very little of Lady Lady. The plot to me sounded VERY similarly to Candy Candy and also Sandybell (girl LOOKS like Candy too, and ALSO it takes place in the UK). BUT, I know Swedish anime dubs from the 80s always are a delight.
I however researched it a bit and stumbled across a website that had the WHOLE SERIES SWEDISH DUB ON A DVD. FOR A CHEAPER PRICE.
I was like. Woah. What kind of website is this???
Checked out their other stuff. They have a BUNCH of swedubbed animes - mostly Studio Ghibli films but alas. But then I also found THE ANIME THAT THEY MADE WHEN THEY WEREN'T ALLOWED TO MAKE A PIPPI LONGSTOCKING ANIME IN THE 70S
Context Astrid Lindgren just refused to let them adapt her work but as you can see they used a red haired pigtailed girl... even if this is about Pandas instead. I didn't know that this got swedish dubbed.
Anyway now I'm considering buying the Lady Lady DVD. I also stumbled across someone who had put the entire series FINNISH DUBBED on youtube - so I scowered through THEIR channel and also found that they have uploaded a COMPLETELY OTHER ANIME SWEDISH DUBBED WITH FINNISH SUBTITLES.
So if anyone who knows Swedish and/or Finnish feels like watching Belle and Sebastian then go ahead. This version is also up on Letterboxd so now I wanna watch it simply so I can review it on Letterboxd.
WHAT A FUCKING RIDE I'VE HAD TODAY? MISSED TO GET AN ANIME VHS. FOUND A COMPLETELY OTHER ANIME VHS ABOUT AN ANIME I HAD VAGUELY HEARD ABOUT. FOUND THAT WHOLE ANIME ON A DVD AND DECIDED TO BUY IT. THEN FOUND ANOTHER ANIME BEING ENTIRELY UPLOADED ON YOUTUBE.
