There is virtually no difference in Skyrim & Fallout lock picking. Other than, in Skyrim you are not held back by how hard it is, you can attempt any skill at any level. So you pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Hey, Just want to chime in on the texture topic. I'm playing the 360 version in HD and I gotta say it looks fantastic. Sure there are SOME murky textures, but its like dirt & mud textures mostly, or woodland floors. And on top of that, they only look murky if you ZOOM in JUST to find a flaw. From the perspective of someone going through the game and playing all the textures look flawless. And you're totally right, off screen pictures and low quality streams DO NOT do it justice.
