Juleka has some mild voice-related dysphoria, which is one of the reasons she doesn’t talk much

She only transitioned recently, so a certain amount of her “photo curse” is in reference to a lot of her earlier photos not really being of her

Really customizing her look and leaning into her personal style was one of the earliest ways she got dysphoria relief, and now that she’s found something she really likes and gets to be her whole self, she’s really leaning into it

Anarka is almost militantly supportive; Luka has to very diplomatically reign her in from time to time

That said, Luka is just as bad sometimes; he was kicked out of his previous school for getting in a fight over someone misgendering/otherwise being a transphobic jackass over his sister

Juleka and Rose were crushing on each other before either of them came out

Rose’s parents are homophobic in a very Respectability Politics way, and this includes a fair amount of transmisogyny; therefore, while her parents know a fair amount about Rose’s crush on pre-transition Juleka, they think she lost interest in “him”

(If they know Rose is pan, they’re also a certain amount relieved that there’s a good chance she could end up with a boy anyway. Rose has definitely picked up on this, and it’s another reason why she’s not telling them about Juleka)

Part of Juleka’s excitement over the Reflekdoll incident (the whole “We look like twins!” thing) was her akuma-addled brain insisting that Rose’s parents wouldn’t be able to object to them dating if their daughter was just like Juleka and vice-versa

A number of Kitty Section songs have lyrics that are secret queer anthems; when everyone (Rose) is finally able to get out from under their parents’ thumbs, they’re planning to publicly reveal that, among other things, “my unicorn” is one of Rose’s affectionate nicknames for Juleka
