This character grew up in the same world as Asta.

She never knew her parents, they left her on the street with nothing more than a shirt that was too big for her and a note, Malum or undesirable in the ancient language of the city. Thus when Rex took her in, she had no choice but to be grateful for the rest of her life. Rex, is the lord of the underground for her home city. He made her do horrible things and allowed people to do horrible things to her.
One day Rex had her out doing what he called Tasks. She had just finished and was walking through the towns square when she say the most beautiful thing she has seen in awhile. A relatively new painting on the side of one of the largest buildings in town. It looking like a golden circle with the middle cut out and spikes on the outside.
“Ah the symbol of Pelor,” said an unrecognizable male voice.
Malum didn’t even turn to him, “what is Pelor.”
“Why little lady he is the god of the sun, the deity of mankind themselves. Now come along you're going to miss the show. “
Before Malum could stop him he grabbed a hold of his shoulder and took her into a large crowd that had formed. He pulled her the the front of the crowd and gave her a little shove into the middle of the front of the crowd into a line of children that was just around her age.
It was then she saw the large Brass dragon. The most beautiful creature she has ever seen. The rider just as majestic with his armor a matching hue of metal. The shined on them just right for the perfect shine. That day Malum was chosen for the dragon rider academy. Ever since then she has vowed to repay Pelor for bringing her to the town square at just the right time and keeping her there long enough to give her another chance in life.
