Hi friends! My name is Lauren, and Iām excited to introduce yāall to my moody/āletās pretend I know what Iām doingā son Aodhan. I love cats (I have three), Marvel (literally donāt bring up Doctor Strange unless you want a four-hour conversation), sleeping (are you surprised?), writing (bet you didnāt see that one coming), reading (I literally have a hundred half-read books at the moment??? But I want more??? Why, brain??), and swings (I am both a grandma and a twelve-year-old in one body). Come plot with me anytime! I promise I donāt bite!
NAME: AODHAN MACNAMARA.
ROLE: THE KING OF IRELAND.
TIMELINE:
Aodhan was lucky enough to learn how to defend himself at a young age. His father would take him out into the yard and go over sword techniques - day after day - until the poor boy felt like his hands were going to fall off (he never told his father, but he much preferred daggers). It was necessary, according to his father, because one day the man swore Aodhan would become a noble knight just like him. That future - he thought - was carved into the stars. But the stars had another plan for him, and he would soon be introduced to someone heād learn to both envy and admire.
One day, his father came home with an incredibly puzzled look on his face. He didnāt speak for an hour or two - much to Aodhanās surprise - and seemed to get swallowed up by the flowers that lived in their garden. When he did return, he stood tall and told (because his fatherās word was always final) Aodhan that heād be marrying the Kingās daughter; Princess Rowan. It was an agreement the two had come up with while they were catching up, and it made Aodhanās stomach form into a thousand displeased knots.
Of course - despite his hidden protests and the unfortunate death of the king - the wedding went on. It was as beautiful as heād imagined it would be and, although he and Rowan were trying to please their parents, it was clear that the two were not satisfied with the arrangement. He respected her from the start, but there was also resentment that slowly faded over time. He liked the way she made her voice heard - like a wandering lioness - and never let anyone make her feel like she wasnāt in control. And when it comes down to making decisions for their homeland, she never makes him feel like he doesnāt have an opinion on the matter. Though... quite honestly... he likes it better when she takes control.
He lost contact with the one he used to love (the other wasnāt happy about the arranged marriage, to no oneās surprise, and so the conversation ended with the two angrily parting ways) and, to this day, doesnāt know if they've been taken by the plague. He still thinks about them, sometimes.Ā
Hobbies - Reading (especiallyĀ large books that no one ever wants to read, voluntarily). Admiring nature (he absolutely loves gardens, hence why he convinced his father to keep the one they had behind their home).
More to come when I get inspiration.
WHO, ME?:
Honest: This is one of the reasons many people respect him. Heās known to tell it like it is when it comes to making decisions, in a way that makes him seem like heās being kind (and making sense). Heās not afraid to question other peopleās ideas, even if it means getting into an āargumentā with a very picky royal, and likes to give his opinion whenever he can.
Empathetic: Punishing people was not his favorite part of the royal lifestyle. While he grew numb to the idea of execution and exile, among other things, he never enjoyed doing it. Heās able to see both sides of a story - like heās living in the pages of both of them at the same time - but he knows that the law of the land comes before anything else. He cares deeply about other people. But doing so is both a weakness and a strength.Ā
Moody: LEEEEET ME TELL YOU, Aodhan has more mood swings than your great aunt Judy. He tends to run to the library and read when he feels one coming on - much to everyoneās relief - because being inside a book helps him calm down. If something doesnāt go his way, people know by looking at his stone-like expression. No one really knows what mood heās going to be in. Like stated before, people respect him..... but that doesnāt necessarily mean they have to like him.Ā
Strict: Heās a King. Letās be real. He has to make sure people take him seriously, despite the fact that he was forced into this role.
