আমাদের দেশে হরেক প্রজাতির বেনেবউ নজরে পড়ে। প্রতি প্রজাতির গড়ন এবং রঙ একই রকম মনে হলেও খানিকটা পার্থক্য রয়েছে, যা পাখি বিশারদ ব্যতীত নিরূপণ করা বড়ই কঠিন। তবে প্রতি প্রজাতিরই রয়েছে নজরকাড়া রূপ, মায়াবী চেহারা, স্বভাবে লাজুক। এরা আড়ালে আবডালে থাকতে পছন্দ করে। বেশির ভাগই জোড়ায় জোড়ায় দেখা যায়। কণ্ঠস্বর সুমধুর।
