Digital and Traditional have different strengths but digital will never replace traditional. Digital has strength in speed and revision ability. Traditional has strength in craft and uniqueness. There’s a texture in handling the materials that occurs naturally, but digital can only simulate. I hire a lot of digital artists, and I hire a lot of traditional artists. The style of the final work is what matters to me, not how you got there.

Many digital artists transition to traditional because a) galleries mostly want one of a kind physical work and b) if you do an illustration in traditional media, it pays you twice, because you can also sell the original.

Many artists will do both and use the proper tool for the proper job. Or they will use their digital skills to finish and polish their traditional pieces.
