The hamper fell to the ground splattering and scattering the ripe vegetables over the floor at his feet, he found himself being unable to move, glued to his spot with eyes staring at the sprawled form before him-- As if a thin thread kept his golden eyes sewn to the petrifying sight.
His mother, her entire form was laid across the floorboards like a thrown aside ragdoll, a mess of cutlery and vegetables surrounding her form, her face was agonized, unconsciousness cruelly tempting her into it's relieving void but whatever it was that caused her to suddenly shut down kept making her plummet back into reality. The sick reality.
He wanted to shout, he wanted to scream for her, he wanted to run to her side, he wanted to do something, ANYTHING, he had to help her somehow and he was standing here like an idiot-- He felt so useless, his chest was hurting so much that it felt as if it was encased in ice, his mind was nothing more than a cauldron of emotion, it being spiced by the tangle of questions that threaded over his entire brain.
What was wrong with her?
Why... why was this happening to her? She didn't do anything... she didn't deserve this, she was a good mother. She didn't have to die-- She wasn't supposed to die! Not like this, never like this.

It didn't take long for Edward to remember where he was, the unmistakable smell of a butcher's reached his nostrils making his nose wrinkle in disgust, Edward sniffed his stuffy nose (Thank God), lifting a hand to wipe the unending streams of tears that ran down his cheek, dripping onto the duvet.
