This second centre built in 2002 followed the early principle of renovating forgotten buildings of heritage. Once the gatehouse to the grander civic buildings of Glasgow now an independent facility with a spiralling interior that creates intimate spaces whilst allowing them the merge when needed.
The Victorian red brick design features contemporary elements such as the full length window and atrium both facilitating in feeding the inside with daylight and a strong connection to the surrounding environment.
A scheme that is certainly very private with its distribution of visual media to explain the space does at least show clearly in the image below how a very similar theory was used in designing the layout and furnishing to imitate that of a domestic and comforting home feel.
The building is certainly interesting with its Victorian stylings and it is surprising to believe that it was once neglected for not holding an Architectural presence to rival that of its more dominant neighbours. I like most of all the eclectic pattern used in the brickwork pattern. Similar enough to the first centre in Edinburgh but still clearly showing the differed beliefs of the western side of Scotland to those of the east.
