Gates to empty spaces.

As a way of trying to break the mould and try and shake my self from becoming bored of what it is i have been photographing and thinking about i decided i needed to look at the city in other ways. So i did this by taking my self out to find something that i wanted to photograph in the city that i could find a lot of.

I did not want to shoot phone boxes or post boxes or traffic lights or those sorts of tropes people tend to shoot when looking for a common theme in city. I did end up finding something that i found very interesting. Gates to empty spaces. 

These gates are to empty spaces in the city that have been set for construction of new buildings but nothing is going on. A few of these are fairly new clearings that have solid plans for construction in the near future. But some of them are for sites that have been empty for as long as i have been in Plymouth. That is coming up to 7 years, and speaking with locals some of these site gates have been sat closed for over a decade. 

I am very interested in these dead zones that no one can use. Why are they this way? Who owns them? When will something happen with them?
