I wish I could spend all my time in the middle of nowhere 🦎
When you just wanna be THIS, gremlincore or whatever, walking in the mossy woods and the mist and the toadstools and frogs and light rain, and it’s April and it’s OVER 80 EFFING DEGREES outside and your garden is literally wilting in the heat.
Merry & Bright

I’m Just Tired
First off, I’m so sorry that I haven’t returned to shout my stories at everyone for so long. I’m sorry I haven’t had anything to welcome my newer followers. I’m sorry that I haven’t answered any asks or replied to any comments or reblogs. I’ve read them and loved them but I have so many words these days and none of them are pretty or happy or useful. This hellscape of a year has nearly broken me. Like many, if not most, I’ve dealt with calamity after catastrophe on top of the shitshow that is our national and/or global nightmare. But so far, me and mine are still standing for the most part. I can’t complain about being knocked down even as we stand up again and again because we keep standing back up.
Now, though, I sit here, under level 2 evacuation orders to be prepared to leave my home at a moment’s notice as 15 miles east, the river I played in as a child burns. I sit in the path of the Oregon wildfires and look out my window at a sky the color of old paper. As long as it remains yellow, I know I can relax, a little. If it turns orange again, or please no, black and red like it did the night before last as we packed the car, I’ll have to gather myself to run.
As though I haven’t been poised to run for days now, the ever present heat on the back of my neck that calls to primitive instinct when it was nature’s electricity that started these blazes and not humanity’s. It was nature’s wind, whipped to a fury by humanity’s indifference to her moods and her power that picked up the fire and spread it over so wide an expanse. Maybe now humanity will pay attention. When she stops taking it and proves she has a spine, and a temper.
Maybe.
Please, if you can help, I know there are a thousand worthy things to donate to right now. But if you can and the spirit moves you, please consider helping the many, many people who lost their homes and livelihoods in this. My home, that I love, is hurting right now. I have to use my words right now to plea for her.
