When more is less
Packing "cubes " as a way of making the most of your space ... ? I was skeptical. How can an addition be a subtraction? How can more be less ...?
Here's how: It seems that there's more to clothing than fabric and thread; there's air. These "cubes" force one to squish the breath out of one's shirts and pants, resulting in a more compact package.
I was challenged by a certain person to pack for an upcoming trip with carry-ons only. Not possible, I thought.
Then she brought home a bag of bags, which seemed to me to be an addition - a pointless taker-up of precious space. I tried one. I caught on. I witnessed it in real time: more becoming less.
