how do you weigh the packs? are there special weights to put in them?
You can put anything in packs! But to get the sides balanced and work the dogs up to their desired total weights gradually we make homemade sandbags and weigh them out on a kitchen scale. Usually I like a sandbag that is 2.5 pounds each so the dogs can go up 5 pounds each time weight is increased (you need equal weight on each side to keep the pack balanced).
