Madison had visited the convenience store a few days prior and had ran into someone she hoped she’d never see again. Or at least, that’s what she told herself. It started with anger, which then turned to sadness, which then somehow turned into Madison giving the other her number and leaving the store peacefully. It was an odd turn of events and even now, three days later, Madison was still confused as to how that went.
Nick was supposed to text her after work that day, but didn’t and Madison was honestly a little upset by this fact. A small part of her had hoped that the woman would have the ability to admit to her mistakes and move on. Apparently her thoughts were wrong, as the days past and there was still no message. Madison had just given up, decided she just wouldn’t go to that store and just avoid Nick as much as possible when her phone buzzed. It was late at night and she was already assisted into bed and changed. Now she had to get dressed and out the door again. While she could’ve gotten help from her mom and been out of the door within fifteen minutes, she didn’t want her mom’s questioning. So she struggled to do it herself, not getting out for double the time.
Pushing herself all the way to Nick’s house wasn’t exactly fun, but she’d do it, simply because it meant her mom wouldn’t be suspicious. She didn’t need nor want to be questioned by her mother and so this was easier in the long run. Arriving at the building, Madison sighed deeply before pushing her way through the doors and into the elevator. “Fuck me...” She cursed under her breath, pushing one of the numbers on the elevator. As it hummed and pulled her towards Nick’s floor, Madison could feel her nerves kicking up. Her chest felt tight and her breathing shallowed, although she wasn’t sure if that was due to Nick, or due to the elevator.
Once arriving on her floor, Madison silent thanked the higher power the controlled the universe and approached the door. Rapping three times, she called through the door in a whisper shout. “Nick, It’s Madison. Lemme in. This whole place makes me feel like I’m gonna get stabbed or robbed of my chair.”
