Reunited ~Lacy&Devon ~closed
“-- are you sure you don’t want strawberry?” Lacy asked her five year old daughter one last time as they made their way hand in hand towards the small market place that had a small ice cream parlor. The little girl nodded her head firmly in reply to her mother, her blonde curls bouncing around her face.
“I want salty carmel.” she answered with a determined expression, unable to properly say the words.
“But you don’t even like salted caramel.” Lacy pointed out.
“Daddy likes it so now I like it,” Ava said stubbornly. Lacy let out a soft sigh as she continued to walk, she knew there was no point arguing with Ava when she was in this mood, and she also knew how much she was missing her father. To be honest Lacy didn’t blame her - every day.. every minute without him made her heart ache more and more, and if she didn’t have Ava she didn’t know where she would be. Snapping out of her thoughts, Lacy shook her head slightly and continued to walk, however as soon as they turned a corner, Ava started squealing and tried to pull her hand out of Lacy’s grip.
“Daddy!” she yelled, trying desperately to go back around the corner they had just walked around. “Mummy! It was Daddy! Over there!” she continued to squeal. Lacy’s chest tightened as she kept a grip on the young girl. This wasn’t the first time she had mistaken someone for Devon.
“Ava, I told you. Daddy isn’t- Ava!” Lacy exclaimed as the young blonde finally broke free and ran around the corner. As soon as she saw Devon her little face lit up and she made a beeline for him.
“Daddy!” she called, not even slowling down as she practically threw herself into his arms.
Lacy ran back around the corner, still calling out to Ava, but she stopped as soon as she saw what the young girl had been so excited about. As her blue orbs landed on the unmistakable figure of her husband, Lacy’s heart started pounding quickly. She couldn’t believe it.. she was sure she had seen him die, but there he was.. looking a lot weaker than usual but still alive. For a few seconds, Lacy’s mind tried to convince her this was another dream, but her heart was stronger than her mind, and it made her desperately want to believe he was really there. Stumbling forward a few steps, the blonde stared at him with wide, tear filled eyes, keeping back at least a few meters.
“Devon...” she whispered, her voice cracking slightly.
