he’s definitely aware of the fact that he has feelings for you but cannot for the life of him express this like a normal person

his pride also won’t let him ask the guys for help so he’s kind of just stuck in this awkward loop of saying something kind of hinting at wanting a relationship with you, then getting all flustered and acting like it never happened

he would definitely ask you to complete these mundane errands with him just to hang out with you more

he cares a lot about you and doesn’t want to see you get hurt, which is why he always invites you to train with him, he also invites you to watch at the boxing club sometimes but gets nervy if you actually show

every chance he gets he’s inviting you out for a beef bowl

he definitely tries to look cool and impress you by doing stupid things, but it’s a 50/50 on if he actually does look cool or hurts himself in the process (type of guy to make you watch him do a backflip on the trampoline)

when it comes to actually confessing he’s an blushing stuttering mess

he’s probably rehearsed what he was going to say a million times in the mirror yet here he is, fumbling over those same words.

he’s probably ask you to be his partner outside somewhere, like at the shrine or the front of the school, it’d go something like this:

“i just really need to get this off my chest, it’s been eating away at me for months… i want to be with you all the time. you mean so much to me, i guess what im trying to say is… uhm… will you be my partner?”

he’s definitely distant at first but if you’re persistent enough and genuinely show him that you want to get to know him then he will develop feelings for you

also very protective of you, but in a more subtle way. the type of guy to cover the corners of the table with his hand when you bend over to grab something so you don’t hit your head on it or making you walk on the inside of the sidewalk.

he would definitely wouldn’t be the one to confess, he still has this whole ‘i don’t deserve happiness’ thing going on so he thinks he doesn’t deserve you

tries to ignore his feelings but he can’t, you’re on his mind all the time

coincidentally always cooks too much food for himself when you’re around so he splits it with you. he also watches to see your reaction to make sure you really do like it, because if you don’t like it he’s going right back to the kitchen to make something you will like

invites you every once in a while to take koromaru out just because he likes talking to you while you guys walk. you’re the only person who gets to see his soft side around koro

when it comes to confessing, you’d more than likely have to be the one to say something, but at that point it’s pretty obvious you two share feelings for each other no matter how nonchalant shinjiro tries to be about it

you’d confess however you’d confess and he’d be pretty shocked, like visibly shocked, and would definitely try and wave you off saying things like “why would you have feelings for me of all people?” “im not good company, you don’t wannna be hanging around a guy like me”

but eventually he gives in, probably calls you an idiot and pulls you in for a hug, he doesn’t say he likes you back or anything but his actions and his facial expression kind of say it for him

it definitely takes her a couple 1 on 1 hang outs to realize her feelings for you are romantic and not platonic

does way too much debating on wether or not she should tell you or just tuck her feelings away in the back of her mind but realizes the way she feels is too strong and she’ll have to tell you eventually

very caring towards you, often tries to understand you and your upbringing since she comes from money but still does normal non rich person things with you like grab fast food or listen to new music cds with you, even though she knows she probably won’t like your music

also protective over you, but it’s more so through her words. she’s your number one defender and number one supporter, you better believe nobody will talk badly about you in mitsurus presence

tries to flirt and say bold things but if you reciprocate and say something flirty back she immediately clams up and gets all awkward and shy (during the talking stage)

she likes listening to you talk and learning more about you, so a lot of times she’ll egg you on to keep talking about your day or your childhood, even though she seems kind of aloof when you’re talking

probably gives gifts too, nothing too extravagant, she doesn’t want to give you the wrong idea, just… an idea… things like your favorite sweets or snacks cooked by a private chef, or a sweet necklace with your initials on it because she just so happened to stumble upon it when walking past a jewelry store *wink wink*

when it comes to confessing, it’s a 50/50 on if you get to it first or she does

she gives herself a little pep talk while circling around her room and makes sure she looks extra nice that day, spraying her favorite perfume and making sure her lipstick isn’t smudged before asking you to meet.

she’d probably invite you out somewhere secluded, but still fairly open like a park or outside the dorm, and when she confesses, she’s fairly clear but you can still tell that she feels awkward about it. it would probably go something like this

“you really… bring out a side of me that i didn’t know i had, in the sense that… you bring me great comfort nobody else has before. what im trying to say is… i love you”

unfortunately i can totally see junpei giving her advice and aigis actually accepting it, this results in a bunch of odd pick up lines that don’t really land too well, especially with her delivery and all </3

does very literal things to express affection, like taking notes from movies or overhearing conversations while out, so she’ll randomly just hold your hand or give you odd gifts

sweetest girl ever though, sometimes she gets the wrong ideas and will threaten to harm your friends for making joking comments towards you because she gets the wrong idea but her hearts in the right place

always insists on being with you too

whenever you’re slightly under the weather or in a less than great mood, she immediately clocks it and is offering every remedy she knows, she gets fuuka (gulp) to help her make you tea, puts on a comedy show, tucks you into bed, everything

i dont think she necessarily realizes at first that the way she feels about you is romantic, but she can tell it’s definitely different than how she feels about the others at the dorm

when it comes to confessing, i don’t think she’d straight up say she’s in love with you or has feelings for you, i imagine she’d describe her feelings to you and it would be so obvious that she’d describing feelings of love

she’d probably just do it whenever the two of you are alone, no build up or anything, just confessing wherever the two of you may be

Mitsuru can be affectionate when the mood strikes her, but it's mostly in private, she feels like being too openly affectionate is a bit embarrassing, especially if in front of other s.e.e.s members. She definitely won't refuse the occasional hug or cheek kiss though

She is actually interested in having a child in the future, not only does she have to give a successor to her family's company but she would also genuinely like to be a mother. She's pretty good with kids, having that strict and authoritative but kind personality typical of moms, also she has some experience thanks to ken

She rather enjoys cuddling, especially when one of you is tired and needs to get relaxed and recharged, cuddling is the perfect way to do that. She's mostly the big spoon but likes being the little spoon too when she's the one who needs comfort

Mitsuru is kinda awkward at flirting before you enter a relationship, she's not used to doing things like that and it shows. She prefers to court you in more traditional ways like giving you roses. However when you're together she gains the confidence to flirt more, she can be pretty seductive when she wants now

She gives you a lot of gifts very often and they're all mostly really expensive, but that just comes with dating a rich girl. But don't think she just randomly throws her money at you, she carefully chooses your gifts so that you'd like them, she just so happens to always choose the most expensive brand of what you want

She does enjoy hugs, out of all forms of affection they're probably her second favorite one behind only kisses. She likes to hold you in her arms for a long time when she hugs you, she also always smells really good, like a mix of roses and strawberries

It actually took a bit of time, she needed to fully know if you actually loved her because of her and not her family or status. But now that she for sure knows that the words come naturally

Mitsuru really tries her best to not let jealousy get to her as she wants to appear as the mature woman she is most times, but when there's a woman flirting with you right in the open it's really hard not to. Depending on how obvious it is she'll either stay there and try to ignore it or kinda forcibly pull you out of the conversation

When mitsuru kisses you it's almost always a French kiss and even when it's just a quick one she always puts a lot of passion and love on it, they're addicting and you can't get enough of them and mitsuru is always happy to give you more

She has never even thought about confessing to someone so she was pretty clueless on how to do it, and so she asked yukari who just told her "well just tell y/n how you feel" which....wasn't too helpful but it did give mitsuru a general idea. She just invited you to drink tea at her house and told you the truth about how she felt. It was simple but sincere and it worked since you accepted

She always wakes up pretty early and goes to pick you up with her motorcycle so you can go to school together

She is pretty protective whenever you go to tartarus together and you have to fight shadows, she just doesn't want you getting hurt in any way so she'll freeze or slice any shadows that gets close. But also during the day when she can feel something is wrong

She likes to call you pet names in French like mon cher or mon amour

Mitsuru remembers quite a bit about you and she's pretty proud of that too, whenever someone else asks about you she'll tell them what they need to know as a way to show off a bit

You mostly spend it inside drinking tea and reading together but there are times where she feels more adventurous and wants to go out even when it's raining

Doing acts of service is one of her favorite ways to care for you. She can get some of her staff to cook for you whenever you're hungry but she's especially really good at giving massages and she loves doing that

Mitsuru isn't used to romance at all so she really tries her best whenever she organizes something doing as much research as she can and making sure you enjoy yourself the whole way through

She hugs you and lets you lay on her lap while silently letting you vent. In truth she doesn't really know what to do in this occasion but she'll really try her best to make you happy

You are incredibly important to mitsuru. before she met you she was mostly surrounded by people who only pretended to love her for what they could gain out of her but you genuinely love her because of her and she couldn't be happier to have met you

She definitely asks yukari to heal you and destroys the shadow who hurt you. She will also scold you for not being careful enough and getting yourself in danger

One of the main things she love is when you hold onto her waist when you two ride together on her motorcycle. She doesn't admit it often but she feels kinda disappointed when you don't do that, it makes you really cute in her eyes

Mitsuru noticed that the feelings she has for you are different from the ones she has from others a little too late for her taste. Actually, just thinking about how long it took her to realize makes her feel embarrassed.

 It started with a strong need to be near to you, almost like a necessity. Then, she suddenly requests your opinion for little things like the books she is reading now, or the best tea flavor to drink in late afternoon. Suddenly, she's thinking about you at random times of the day, even when she's supposed to be occupied with other activities.

Mitsuru’s way to face this? Well, is almost running away.

See, she's not a girl who has many fears, but is different with love. Love is a new game for her, and she doesn't want to risk the relationship she already has with you - or worse, the whole team dynamics with S.E.E.S - just for a silly crush.

This is not silly, is almost crashing her soul 

After contemplating her situation for some time, Mitsuru proudly makes a plan of action. I mean, is there any other way she could deal with it?

Her plan is A - wait for it to pass (She hopes she can follow this one), or plan B - wait until graduation, so she has to move out of the dorms. (Almost the same as plan A, if you pay attention.)

Or even plan C - kiss you when you both are alone, and nobody else could catch you… this line of reasoning makes her heart stop beating for a while, but was also her favorite plan.

Now, when she's close to you, Mitsuru tries to not think too much about this (‘cause if she does, her cheeks will become the same color as her hair). 

And she's doing a good job, don’t you see? All she has to do is not observe the way you put your hand in front of your smile when you laugh, or the way your eyes shine brighter when you’re talking about something you love, or how you look so cozy and comfortable when she's close to you…

Unlike Mitsuru, Sanada knows he has a crush on you the moment the flame starts to burn. But oh god, he acts so stupid about it.

It begins when you became a member of S.E.E.S. He now saw you everywhere, and with time, he began to enjoy the company. At first, he thought you’re pretty cute. But it goes from water to wine when he first saw you fighting - and completely destroying - a shadow.

Sanada is a simple guy. He used to believe he doesn't exactly have a type, but when the boy saw you destroying a shadow with a blink of an eye, and worse, looking absolutely gorgeous doing that… he knows he has cooked.

The very first thing Sanada tries is to rationalize. Ok, he had a crush on you… and what the hell is he supposed to do now? Maybe he can go after Junpei for some advice, but it would fucking kill his ego.

Days turn into weeks, and every time you go to Tartarus together he feels that flame becoming a blaze. He loves seeing how strong you’re, even if you don't put a lot of effort into becoming physically stronger. It's just who you are, it's just how your Persona works.. fascinating.

But you are still not his.

Is only natural that when he comes back he needs to punch his pain away. 

For every punch Akihiko throws there's a new memory of you. You, asking him if he wants to come back home with you. You, too concentrated studying to notice that he's staring at you. You, even against your will, accepting to go training with him. 

You, obliterating a shadow in a way he never could.

You, not needing him to protect you.

The main reason he's not confessing his feelings for you lies exactly there: he feels too weak to do so.

If you’re stronger than him, that means that when the moment finally comes, he could not protect you. He can't accept that, never. He needed to become stronger, the most stronger anyone could get. He demand that. That way, maybe feel confident enough to ask you out. That way, maybe he feels like he deserves your love back.

Shinjiro Aragaki

Aragaki’s fall was a slow and painful one.

He used to see you around the train station, certainly on your way to school. In the past, the only real difference you have with any other regular student is how he, from time to time, likes to see you walking at distance. Just someone who catches his attention, if you ask him. No big deal.

He started to wonder if there's something special about you when he noticed you began to walk along Sanada and Mitsuru. His suspicions confirmed the day he returned to S.E.E.S.

For the longest time, he tries to keep everybody at a distance. And he would have succeeded, if it wasn't for you and your stupid obstinacy in wanting to spend time with him. Shinji couldn’t get why.

Yet, he found out he enjoyed the company. By your side, he felt more loose and let his guard come down for a bite. With you, he smiles and talks often. Shinji could spend the whole day with you, and in the end still wanted more. He can't recognize himself.

The more you two spend time together, the closer you get. He likes to impress you with his cooking skills, but it also means he has to try his best to hide how embarrassed you let him with your compliments.

On one hand he hasn't felt this happy in years, but with the other he can't help but feel this is wrong, he doesn't deserve this happiness. 

He believes that something sweet as you wasn't made for him. You’re so pretty and kind, while he's only a shadow of the man he used to be. Shinji doesn't want to wrap you in the curse he lives under.

He sees himself on lowstream. He is doomed to destruction, and so everyone that comes too close to him. He doesn't want that for you. 

 Shinji valued you more than the world. He wants you to be the happiest as someone could ever be, with a man who really deserves you. Not him. 

Something so delicate could easily break on his hand

So, for the sake of you both, Shinji tries to keep these feelings hidden at the bottom of his heart. 

He wants to protect you from his awful destiny, but he’s too selfish to let you go. So he keeps you around, but not too much. Just close enough to fulfill his need to protect you.

Maybe in another life he could say to you the things he wanted to. Maybe in another life, he could be your favorite boy.

Author's note: Akihiko Sanada is one of those characters where you don't understand why he's so popular at first, so you kinda brush him off as the overly confident, one-dimensional personality character. Yet as the story goes on, and you actually spend time on his social link, you end up going, "I get it now." Him and Shinjiro can be such dorks, I adore these Persona/blood brothers.

The morning started out fine. There wasn't that much drowsiness this time around, and he didn't feel like wanting to lay in bed longer than five minutes. With flickering eyes, he tugged on the upper part of his blanket and moved it to his right side of the bed. He let out a rouse as he stood up to pull the covers back, flattened the tangled corners, along with patting the pillow to restore its shape. The loft feels nicer when it's fluffy. In a leisurely pace, the routine went on in the bathroom. After splashing cold water on his face, he cupped his hands to drink from a faucet, needing to get rid of the thick saliva that gave him a bad breath. When he was done, he made it back to his dorm room to change into the Gekkoukan uniform. Sliding into the black pants, putting on a white shirt button down, tying the slim ribbon tie, putting on the jacket with the school emblem, in addition to matching shoes.

Everything was on its place, even the old publications he had gotten from Bookworms that the teachers didn't want to cover for obvious reasons. Normally at this time, he would go downstairs to make some breakfast, after that he would brush his teeth and then get out of here before he missed the train, but for some reason, his thoughts seemed to lack willingness to go downstairs currently.

There was a couple of seconds flying by as he stared at his bed before going towards it, to then letting himself sink into the mattress’s dip. The room is silent, yet the building itself wasn't. He could hear Junpei walk by with that beaming energy of his, talking about breakfast with Ken. He had even momentarily heard Makoto outside of his door humming a familiar tune he couldn’t recall what it was called. It sounded nice, though.

The longer he sat there with the room still being dimly lit, the more he realised that he was beginning to have one of those days. The periods of lacking motivation. Normally, his semi depression would come from existential despair, being without direction or conviction, with no clear objective to steer him through, unless it is to be an obedient dog. Every move he had taken thus far appeared to be influenced by the whims of those around him--his parents, his friends, those at school--leaving him with a nagging sense of emptiness and detachment. He would question, desperately, what the meaning of his life was. Is this how it will be for the rest of his life? Getting a profession as a doctor to be financially secure and to be able to brag about being socially great while also pleasing his family? Pleasing those around him? That isn't enough; that isn't something he can live for.

He has had these moments in bed before, both in the morning and late at night, however he always managed to pull himself back to his normal self so that he could go to Gekkoukan and focus on his studies. What he hasn't been doing so well lately is actually staying there the whole day, some school days, even though they practically end at the same time. Feels much more extended because of certain classes, his mental energy isn't the strongest, and that does reflect on his Persona, he's not weak by any means, yet he does wear out faster than the others. So whenever he dosen’t have the energy to stick around, or at least pretend that he pays attention in class, he ditches them and comes up with several excuses. Some better than others.

He's mostly done this with Mr. Ekoda's lessons, which the man wasn't pleased at all in seeing, mainly since he's one of Ekoda's top students. He dosen’t enjoy classic literature as a whole, aside from myths and ancient stories, but what makes that class unbearable is the teacher himself. He's actually threatened him multiple times that he will fail him for poor attendance if he keeps on doing this, which has, of course, brought up Misturu's attention and started nagging him about it.

At the start, he got away with the lectures a lot. He's honestly surprised it took this long until S.E.E.S took notice of his absence. It made sense to some degree. He isn't in the same class as Makoto, Yukari, and Junpei. Not to mention that he was around to some degree, so if they did notice he was gone, they couldn't prove anything since he came back later to attend at least something else. He's never missed a single Kendo participation. It's one of the many hobbies he loves doing. Nevertheless, he dosen’t think this is the day where he'll keep his streak anymore.

He was jolted out of his thoughts by a gentle knock on the wooden door. It was a solid but not aggressive knock. Akihiko Sanada was standing there, his typical attire silhouetted against the hallway sunlight, as he slightly opened the door to see through the crack. He was always perplexed as to how his roommates could wear their school uniforms in such a distinctive fashion without being reprimanded by the school board. To demonstrate that his hairdo was natural, he had to submit the school's his medical documents. In contrast, they make it appear so much simpler.

“Hey,” he began, voice low enough to match the daylight’s hush, “everything alright? You normally be eating with us right now, but you've been in there for a while. Is something wrong?" He wasn't sure what to say to him, and the countdown for obvious hesitation was quick. He gently tapped the handle in a hushed motion, and the earliest thing comes to mind. “Yeah I'm fine, I just accidentally overslept a little. I'll catch up with you guys on the next train. Don't worry about it.” It sounded as if he was trying to convince himself more than him. It wasn't the best way he could have delivered it and he knew it, so he looked away. As if the words might punch him to the floor if they didn't struck the captain of the boxing team the correct way.Akihiko stepped forward and went in, not even letting him protest as the door began swinging shut behind him with a calm click.

“Hmm. ‘Fine’?” he mused, his tone softening as he crossed the room to peer out the window. Those grey eyes are indifferent to the weight of the moment. He turned back, putting his jacket on the desk chair, arms folding over his chest. “You’ve been skipping so many things lately that even Koromaru starts noticing. Even if the next train is fine, you’re not.” He felt his shoulders stiffen but uttered nothing. He knew exactly what this situation was—Akihiko’s persistence was strong, not just in battle, also in coaxing others out of their cycles. It's extremely annoying. Nonetheless, it can be a good trait as well. It means he won't easily give up on you. He's going to try even if it means you hate him for it.

“Alright, alright, you got me.” The male muttered with an exhaled tone, slumping onto the bed again. “If you’re going to play the frustrating older brother, you could at least make it a bit more convincing.” He slightly shaked his head at that response, Akihiko's chuckle was warm, short too. He sat beside them, the bed creaking under his weight. “You know me better than that.” He paused, then added, “Tell me what’s going on. You’re not fooling anyone.” He only glanced at him for a second before looking up at the ceiling, not wanting to reveal everything yet enough to make him know what's been bothering him so much. “It’s nothing big,” they offered, too quickly. “Just… life decisions. You know how it is.”

Akihiko hummed, his gaze narrowing slightly. The information wasn't much, and he isn't that much of an advicer. Words aren't his speciality, perhaps, though. In his own way, he can say something useful. “You don’t have to beat everything at once,” he begins, voice steady as a metronome, “but disappearing doesn’t make the problem weaker. It just lets it win by default.” The younger student slowly turned his gaze to look at him in an unamused, dumbfounded way. Did this muscle brained moron just use Lao Tzu's idiom in a battle manner to explain what he should do? Akihiko rests his right arm on his thigh, recalling the boy’s excuses—lack of care, and tiredness, in addition to a fear of failing expectations.

“Whenever me, Shinjiro, and Mitsuru fought in the Dark Hour back in middle school, we didn’t always know our next move.” He says it in a melancholic tone, a tiny smile reaching his lips. “But we showed up, day after day, even when all we had was a slim chance of hope. That’s how you fight doubt. Not with perfection but instead with persistence. You don’t know what you’ll become if you keep going like this. Depression doesn’t start with a punch. It’s a slow fall, and I’ve seen what it does to people. You don’t want to get to the point where ‘the next train’ has passed ten times.”

There is this comfortable silence as the younger student swallowed a bit of his saliva. He let out an unhurried sigh at the ceiling as he uttered with honesty. “I don’t know if I can do that anymore.” Their voice was little, almost in a whisper. Akihiko exhaled, leaning back slightly. “Then start with something simple. Take a walk, spar with me, and talk to someone. You don’t have to solve everything today, but you can’t let yourself fall right now, or someone else will end up dragging you because you were vulnerable. I’m not Mitsuru, and I’m not here to teach you that not focusing on your studies will mess you over. You don’t need that. But I am here to remind you that you’re not alone in this. Even if our circumstances aren't exactly the same.”

The male nodded im acknowledgment, it's a heavy motion filled with genuineness. They looked at Akihiko then, really looked at him—the lines of his face, the way he always seemed to carry the weight of others without ever complaining about his own.

“I don’t want to be stuck like that, I don't plan on it either,” he admitted. “Good,” Akihiko said, standing to take his jacket whilst also offering a hand. “Then let’s start by getting you to school. You'll have to skip breakfast, but I'll buy you lunch when the time comes. Can't have your stomach empty when we're going to Tartaurus tonight.” He reached out to take his hand. As they rose, Akihiko squeezed his palm briefly before letting go. “Next time, I won’t have to come knocking.” “Yeah,” their voice was uncertain, even though knowing it is for the best. “Next time, I’ll just… go.”

They didn't say anything further as they hurriedly packed their things and ran for the door in an attempt to catch the train as it surely would arrive at the station less than five minutes. The cool wind touched them as they ran out of the dorm building. He hoped he alone could find his meaning in life before tragedy struck him and everyone he held in his heart.

SUMMARY: Autumn on Tatsumi Port Island is much colder than it needs to be, and you end up being unprepared for the colder temperatures. Shinjiro doesn't like seeing you shiver.

A/N: Day 4 of the Momijigari event! It's October, so I had to do a Shinjiro fic!

It wasn’t uncommon for Tatsumi Port Island’s autumn weather to dip into temperatures more akin to winter. The warm red and orange hues of the leaves betrayed the fact that the air was biting and frigid

The cold pierced (Name)’s trembling fingers as they stuck a toothpick into their weird takoyaki. Despite the weather, the strip mall around Iwatodai Station was bustling at that time of day; students hanging out after their extracurriculars and office workers looking for a warm meal after a long day.

It was warmer during the day, when the sun was higher, but with the daylight halved by the horizon, (Name)’s light sweater did little to protect them from the elements. But the basket of takoyaki was warm in their hands, and the cold didn’t bother them enough to return back to the dorm for the night.

“You’re gonna freeze.”
