Kings of such ilk are never meant to meet. 

He calls himself the king of kings- absurd! Over a thousand years passed after Gilgamesh’s death before the one called Ozymandias was even crowned, Uruk-the-Sheepfold long established to the east before the Nile culture dared raise its head from the sand.

Despite all this complaint, Gilgamesh feels it only acceptable to at least greet the other as he enters the god-king’s abode. As much as he loathes the thought- lacking common courtesy would reflect negatively upon himself and his civilization.
