Conclusions
Another blurb for the birb and medibirb. Yay.
-
“Y'know, every time I see you after a call, you’ve always got one new mark or another. Lyn, you can’t keep shrugging them off.” Cyeryl sat back in the chair she was occupying, arms crossed as she watched Owrlyn fill out meticulously made prescriptions.
“Don’t you think whether or not I choose to vocally acknowledge something that happens to me or not is my decision?” Owrlyn didn’t miss a beat in her answer, not even looking up as she spoke.
“No.”
“…. No?” With that she looked up, looking towards the crow with an eyebrow raised.
“I think you should start telling Tae, or, I don’t know, maybe one of the three trolls who you know and interact with more than anyone else? I think you should do something about your inability to leave without coming back bearing wounds.” Cyeryl ended with a huff, holding her gaze despite the slight intimidation she was feeling.
“And I think what I do and what I bear is of no concern to you, or anyone else for that matter. I can more than deal with the stray scar or beating. It’s nothing I can’t live with. Besides, be that as it may, I would rather myself be hurt than anyone associated with me.” Owrlyn answered matter of factly, not even thinking twice for the answer she’s always given the thief.
“Associated with you? Lyn, you’re family. I might not know about the others, but you’re a family to me. You can te-” she was cut off quickly by Owrlyn turning around after setting some vials down.
“No. Forgive me, Eri, but this is something unavoidable as long as I have anyone in my life that can be used against me. Not you, not Tae, not the high council, and certainly not your friends, can help me with this. Just… Stop. I have made my own terms, and I must keep them so I can keep everyone else safe.” The healer responded firmly, taking a shaky breath before turning back to her work. “Just leave it alone, Eri. There’s nothing anyone can do for me anymore.”
Cyeryl blinked in surprise, taken aback by the response. “W-wait, are you telling me that someo-”
“Eri!”
“Alright! I got it! ”
Extra: “So Uh, how did your visit with Porret go?”
“He’s not changed a bit. Still as overly formal as ever.”
An Inquisitive Day
Short drabble between an Owl and a Sparrow "Why do you have hair covering your face all the time? Isn't it hard to see? Aren't brown bloods supposed to be brown? You look more like an orangy brown." Owrlyn sighed, continuing to work methodically on making a remedy for colds. She glanced over her shoulder, seeing the inquisitive little sparrow standing expectantly behind her. Seoine was curious about her today, it seemed. "It is occasionally challenging to see, but I like it this way." Well, harder now that she lost some sight in one eye, but it wasn't horrible. Not so much that someone could tell. "And the color is called amber. Though for all intents and purposes, brown is my blood caste, and I'm more than happy to try and fit in. Goddesses know we are already strange enough to others with our appearances." The healer answered, speaking in a very monotoned voice as she worked. "So why don't you like any of Siwane's other moms? You seem grumpier around them all the time. And why are we living with you? Siwane said she used to live between Eri's nest and the underground hive." Seoine continued her questioning, firing off more before rocking back on her talons excitedly. Owrlyn supposed she never answered these questions before. Besides, the little house Martin that Seoine has as a Hatchmate to never questioned much that her guardians did- much less the healer. "I don't.... Dislike.. Them. Distrust would be a better word, I suppose? Animosity... Maybe." Did she seem like she disliked them? She really didn't. Cyeryl would know by now that she was loved a lot by the owl. In a maternal sort of way. She got along fine with the fox, sort of. She just doesn't stay near her for very long and that worked. Shanae was-... Shanae... Owrlyn really didn't know anymore about what she thought about her. Oh well, there was plenty of time to sit on that thought. "I simply don't like to be around others for an extended period of time." The owl was about to answer the third question, before being cut off with "but if you dislike other trolls, why are you letting us stay here?" Owrlyn blinked, set her supplies down, and turned around. Even with her hair down, the disapproving and irritated expression conveyed her emotions clearly enough. "Fledgling, do not twist my words when I give you clear answers. I like other trolls, else I wouldn't have pledged my life to healing. I just do not like being /around/ others very long. You and Siwane are here because I have room to let you both stay here indefinitely, and Cyeryl asked me." Owrlyn huffed, almost indignantly, before getting back to her work. Presently she only needed to bottle the resulting powder for long term storage. "Okay... But do you like us?" Seoine prompted as the owl went to go off and put her medicine into basement storage. Owrlyn stopped, seeming to ponder this quietly. She could almost feel the disappointment from the sparrow before turning around. The healer picked up Seoine, and carefully set the small giggling fledging on her shoulders. With her inquisitive 'daughter' balanced and holding on, Owrlyn started back to her storage rooms. "Perhaps." Extra: "So does this mean you won't kick us out?" "Child, even if I wanted to do that, I'm fairly certain it's too late to consider it."
Ancient Calligraphy
A drabble of Porret and Owrlyn Just a short dialogue really. "You... Really have been keeping the avian history. Parchment from before the Burning is illegal to own, Miss Venivir." Porret shuffled through ancient texts, all predating his very own library's existence. Despite the disapproving monotone voice he spoke in, the Raven was clearly happy to even be holding the papers in his hands judging by the way his feathers were ruffled. "Porret, I've known you since you've hatched. Calling me by my name is allowed." Owrlyn sighed, quietly sitting next to the younger avian as they both worked on transcribing all the documents she had brought into the raven's archives. It had been Shanae's idea, really, to do this. Owrlyn otherwise would have continued to hide away all the documentation of her species, which had been thought to be destroyed history. She supposed it was better this way, for someone else to hold copies. Porret was reliable enough and sensible. He'd keep these documents a secret. "Archivist laws require scribes to assume any other class higher than our own, thus deserving of a title. Avian laws also dictate that since my blood caste is what it is, I am to consider my life a gift, and below all others." The Raven responded methodically, writing in his neat and concise way as he spoke. "Your fledgling purple, she is unorthodox. I, however, am... Glad.. That you raised her this way." Owrlyn scoffed, looking up at Porret to give him an incredulous look- through her hair of course. "You are a perfectly fine avian, worthy of respect from the Eagles even with how hard you work. Dropping a title for me or your other friends is not a crime, and neither of us would see it so." She lightly scolded, if only because she had been doing so for most of his life. "I assure you I do as necessary, Miss Venivir. Cyeryl has no title because we're hatchmates. I am not quite sure about the other trolls you associate with though. Quite frankly, the only reason I associate with them is because you and Miss Kurona introduced me. Even then, I have... Been rather unsure of whether or not she's comfortable with me around." Porret paused, a perplexed look coming across his features. "She is Cyeryl's matesprit, yes? I have to say, I never assumed my Hatchmate would have the luck of finding someone patient enough to stand her." The scribe squawked as Owrlyn lightly smacked his shoulder with her wing. "Hush, child. While I share your sentiment, that's rude to say. And, believe it or not, no one quite dislikes you. Uncertain, maybe, since you are new to them, but dislike? Never. You've already looked after the two fledglings before. I'm sure that says volumes about how you're trusted." "Trusted, not liked, dear owl." Owrlyn hissed under her breath in annoyance, and continued writing. "Does nothing please or convince you?" "On the contrary. I am finally talking to my hatchmate again. We have been doing this.. 'Texting' that you introduced me to before. I have met two unconventional fledglings that will grow up to be free thinking without a flock's mind set, and I have been introduced to two non-Avians. One of which, cannot fly, and the other sporting odd magical potential for a normal being. It's interesting, and I am extremely pleased to be able to further my research beyond avian civilizations." Porret rambled on, not noticing his companion face palming quietly next to him. "Porret.... Not everything is something to research. I think they might find it rude, actually. Not everyone likes being put under your little scope." Owrlyn reached over, patting the Raven. "Oh, I don't have the time to question them really. It's just observations I've noticed from time to time. It's interesting. Did you know we're actually the strange ones to their culture? There are trolls who have gills, and fins! And two blood colors Avians have never seen before! And we're seen as mutants? Fascinating." Porret actually looked up from his work, purple eyes sparkling in amazement. Owrlyn could only bring herself to smile slightly. She hadn't seen him this excited about something since he officially became The Archivist for the flocks. Oh well, as long as he was positive about all this interacting, she assumed everything would work out just fine. "You are such a silly Raven, Porret. I'm glad you're enjoying all this change as much as you are."
OC dragon finally has an official gijinka of said character, thanks to a Dragonkin AU I put Owrlyn in. That being said... she turned out a lot more like a Griffon than a dragon,,,,,

Of an Owl and Crane
Just a little dialogue between two hatchmates. "Tae I love you, but if you speak about this to anyone I will break my oath and no one will find you." Owrlyn took a sip of her tea, having said that with a perfectly straight face after sharing another story with her visitor. A tall, lanky avian with bright Jade eyes blinked at her from across the table, and then threw his head back to laugh merrily. Slender, graceful wings of a crane shook behind him as he did so. "Oh my feathers! Lyn! /Lyn!/ You actually went on a date? And you didn't invite me??? For /shame!/" The crane chuckled when he had had his laugh, grinning playfully over to his owl double. "Pardon me if I didn't have time to write to you in the midst of this." Owrlyn spoke dismissively, Amber eyes looking away with a bored expression. Though, the little smile showing on her lips betrayed her amusement. Taevir clutched his heart dramatically, feigning a wounded look. "Lyn! You hurt me so! How could you forget your own hatchmate! Oh how painful this is! Could you ever heal my broken heart?" The healer glanced over, snorting and finally starting to laugh as she scooped up a rubber stopper to toss it at her hatchmate. Which, was caught as he made a cheeky grin. "I'm the wrong kind of person to ask for that Tae and you know it. Would it help if I let you stay the night? Goodness knows you probably haven't thought to reserve a room somewhere else." "Oh mother bless you and your heart of frozen warmth. I'd love to stay here again. It's like we're fledglings again! Especially with you and your eyes whose color was apparent from hatching!" Tae cackled as he caught the second stopper thrown at him, not even flinching at the withering look he received. "But do tell me, nest sister of mine, how was was your ever so short time of being outside? And why have you still not a Matesprit when you're such an adorable a- ack!" He reeled at the toss of a third stopper, this one hitting him straight on the nose. "Tae, flattery and lies will get you nowhere. If I don't have quadrants, it's simply because I'd rather not tell others if I like them. Surely, anyone would be better off with someone not me." Owrlyn huffed, firmly believing this to be true. She was, after all, practically a shut in. "Though it was... Nice, being out, and dressing in something else, I suppose. I'd rather never do that again, but it was a pleasant experience that I'm grateful I got to have." She smiled warmly, very pleased with having done at least one thing out of the ordinary. "How sweet you are when you're being honest about something. I almost want to thank this Shanae person because I haven't seen you this expressive in a long while! It's refreshing." "/Tae./" The crane laughed as he was given a glare that could kill and raised his hands up for mercy. "I won't! I won't! Avian's honor. Although speaking of others, how's the troublemaker and her partner in crimes of cuteness?" Taevir placed his elbow on the table, resting his head on his hand to listen to his sibling. "Eri? She's surprisingly okay here. I was a little worried because her matesprit is...." She made a face. "Unconventional. But, they seem good for each other, so I won't bother her. I swear, that idiot gets herself roped up in the most impossible situations." Owrlyn sighed, and then smiled again slightly. "Siwane is doing good though. I'm happy at least one child is safe from the flocks. Her tail won't be clipped here, and she's loved and cared for. She did have an accident that her wing earlier... But, it's reassuring to know that it was an accident, and that she can take her time learning. You know how the flight instructors always liked to be cruel to the fledglings that were a little slow... And being a purple blood she... well, needless to say, she's growing up to be a fine avian. This is the best possible place for her I think." "Lyn, Owl of my heart, you are so cute when you are worried about others." Owrlyn paused as Tae cooed those words in a teasing voice. She calmly placed her cup down, then took a sharp breath. "Taevir Venihi, for once in your soon to be shortened life, /shut. up./"
=> Owrlyn, roost. (Closed RP)
>Day had shifted into night again, and twas the time when most came out of hiding because of the alternian sun's harsh rays. A densely covered forest that blocked all light from the outside resided in silence.
>Within the forest though, was one who prized solitude and silence over most.
>Owl wings covered a darkened figure high in a tree, shrouding the wise avian from sight as she settled down for a light rest.
"......."
> Tan eyes opened with slitted eyes as a sound snapped Owrlyn out of the beginning daze of sleep.
