Narcan
I had
A patient
Code on me
In the back of
Our ambulance today.
He had overdosed on heroin
And CPR was performed
Until we could get him narcan.
When he was alert
In the back of our rig
Another paramedic asked him
“Is this a wake up call?”
This patient
Has been through
Multiple rehabs
And even admitted to me
He “felt great” before
He passed out.
That’s when I realized:
For a wake up call
To truly BE a wake up call
You have to want to
Come out of your dream
To face the reality of life
And fix your issue,
Not wait for
Someone to come
In their ambulance
To give you one more shot
Of narcan. Don't wait for us to save you. Be your own narcan.
