US military hip boots from the Korean War era. Made by adding hip-length uppers to standard buckle overboots common at that time.
US military issue over-the-combat-boot hippers. The contract date stamped in them is 27 Feb 1951, suggesting that they were ordered during the Korean war. I don’t know if they were intended for use in the Corps of Engineers or if some logistical genius thought the infantry needed them to wade through rice paddies. They are an interesting military item, though.
