hello there 👀👀 i absolutely HATE making strawpages so i’m not sure i’ll have the best advice, but heres a few things that i found helpful whilst creating twotime and a few others 🩷

decide your colors BEFORE getting to work. save hexcodes, never rely on strawpage’s built in color picker. color palettes on pinterest are great for this 🙏

same spirit, but planning a theme and vision definitely helps rather than raw dogging it. moodboards, sketching out layouts before execution, and planning pngs help way more than you would think ESPECIALLY if you procrastinate on the actual ‘building’ and putting all of it together. having a vague direction is key

save periodically. like way more than you think necessary. especially if creating on mobile, you WILL accidentally swipe out of the tab. many times. save/publish the site after each and every small thing you do! finish a text bit? save, finish placement? save.

more planning… its good to have the text you’re wanting planned before so you can visualize how much space you need! even if you format it stupidly like “yap yap yap my name is NAME yap yap yap prn prn prn yap yap yap extra extra extraaaaa” and fill it in after you’re finished

if you’re easily irritated theres a good chance the janky ass website controls will piss you off. there was many times we about shattered my phone over the sheer design of this website and it isnt worth the stress 😭 take a good couple breaks

oddly enough, most people believe that rentry and strawpage are intensely different. i argue that if you’re familiar with rentry, you’ll be set on the design piece! you can use all the graphics knowledge you’ve learned from rentry and then assemble it like a puzzle

i recommend making a test site before you actually commit to the serious one, this is extremely optional but it helped us a lot to fuck around with the ctrls

if your vision isn’t working, don’t be afraid to completely start over. i know its worrysome to see your creation fail, but i promise trying to salvage something that isn’t satisfying you isn’t worth the stress most of the time. you can always recreate and tweak your initial vision, or go for a completely different one!

we’ve made very few strawpages so take all this at face value, but i hope this assists you even just a lil bit 🙏🙏

Ive had one other au brewing in my head but it is barely developed.. its a kind of movie-centric swap au w/ teresa, minho, thomas, and newt! In summary, its if the ivy trio banded together to betray the group instead of teresa and went full wckd while it was the orhers trying to get away from them. I really have nothing for this, just some ideas w minho being in the lab/experimentations department, newt being in the patient care/one on one department, and Thomas being the overseer/mastermind kind of? I was considering making it to where they kinda take over wckd and janson dies while ava escapes or something. Teresa would lead the right arm and the rest of the gladers instead of the ivy trio.

Like i said, theres probably plotholes but this is just a small thing ive come up with and havent really seen anyone else do! Im not great with au’s and i havent really made any b4 the addict!minho one so i apologize
