Hogsmeade
He’s got a bottle of whiskey in hand, though covered up by a paper bag to hide his shame in the fact that Teddy Lupin, Head Auror of Hogsmeade, and a man of his word who’d always been known not to like or partake in much drinking... was getting wasted.
He didn’t know loss like this. The only thing that came close to this before had been Rose. After all, both of Teddy’s parents had died when he was too little to know or understand what that meant, and the other deaths over the years, though sad, hadn’t been as close to home as Rose.
It hadn’t been as close to home as Albus and Harry.
If Teddy had been feeling like more and more of a failure before, it sure weighed on him even heavier now. He couldn’t protect the people of his city, and he couldn’t even protect the people in his own family. In the span of a few too-quick moments, he had lost a brother and the only father figure he had ever known on what was supposed to be the happiest day of the year.
What was he supposed to do with himself now? Taking another drink from the bottle, he no longer winced at the taste. He was used to it by now. Letting his head fall back he closed his eyes and tried to shut out the noise of the town.
Hearing the sound of someone approaching instead, he didn’t bother to look up. Instead, he let his head lull downwards again. “M’off duty,” he mumbled, glad for the hood pulled up over his head and the darkening of all his features through his metamorphmagus natural inclination. “You got... problems, y’can.... take ‘em to the.... office.”
