So, I've been back from Toronto for around 8 hours, and I don't think I've ever missed a con/large group of people so much before. Everyone was just so wonderful and fun to be around. Basically everyone connected so well, and were always so respectful of each other. It was just such an accepting, friendly, and generally happy environment.Â
And then we got back to the Falls.Â
Like, I know I'm not coming back to something nearly as bad as what some of the other wonderful folks from the con are, but. Coming back to fighting parents (one of which was demanding me to go to a BBQ at some guy's house I'd never met before for no apparent reason), a house that is literally falling apart, and a community that could never be as amazing as a whole is really depressing. Especially with the returning school anxieties, and the fear of having to tell my parents that I can't graduate this year.Â
Just. Ugh. I know it seems like small and pointless stuff, but everything still effects me a lot and I don't know if I can handle it anymore.Â
Anyways, I cannot express how thankful I am for all of the people involved in the OUTshine conference. <3 The volunteers, staff, educators, and students present were all bloody fantastic, and I'm sure many participants will agree with me that this past weekend has been the best part of 2013. Deeply missing the Homiesensuals and wishing that I had talked to more of them (was afraid to start a conversation that I could potentially not hear, my good ear got infected the first night at the hotel) and gotten more contact information. All of the people I had a chance to talk to were fabulous and I can't wait to see a handful of them again at Anime North next weekend!
