Something cool I saw that is applicable here because astronomy: the southern lights! I went out with some friends last week and we drove out to an inlet and watched the Aurora Australis. It mostly looks like vague faint patches of glowing light on the horizon to the naked eye, but you can see some of the bars when they’re very strong. We watched them in a place where a bunch of amateur photographers were set up, and they showed us their cameras, where they were using long exposure times so you could see the full brilliant range of the colors. It was mostly reds and a little green that night, and the stars out were also amazing since we were away from the light pollution of the city.

(Technically, the blog has existed for longer than that, and changed urls once to remove dashes, but that’s how long I’ve been actually doing things on here)
