They’d been out on the roads when Roadhog had spotted the first sign of trouble on the horizon. The sky had been rapidly darkening but not with thick black storm clouds; but ugly, churning red ones. 

A dust storm.

It was by mere luck alone that they were near a house that had probably been part of a farm once upon a time. Dragging the bike in through the door the two Junkers had worked hard to seal the door shut as well as the windows to keep the worst of the harsh wind out.

Because the sand was deadly if you breathed it in too much. 

Now here they sat in an abandoned house with the bike, a sand storm raging outside, with no idea how long it would last. The biggest sand storm Mako had ever seen lasted two weeks, once. And his father had spoken of one that had lasted a month and more.

Jagoda had been out most of the day, truthfully. She needed to get groceries to make dinner and stuff - usually she was only feeding one person since her only other friend was an omnic. But now she had somebody else - a very tall, probably fuckin’ hungry man - that was staying with her for God knows how long. At least getting everything upstairs wasn’t a hassle; like Junkrat, she was outfitted with her own “fancy” cybernetics. Hanging a bunch of grocery bags off of that arm was a godsend, otherwise she’d have to take two trips, and nobody wanted to do that. Especially when you live in an apartment building on the second floor.

She had the suit as an afterthought - a leftover from her previous boyfriend. She was trying to move on. “Here, you can have this. It doesn’t fit anyone else that I know.” It wasn’t an insistence that he wear it, no. Just that he had something nice to wear if he ever felt like it.

The door to the apartment opened with little resistance - despite having a physical keycard, everything was logged into her arm just in case her hands were full. The living room and kitchen were empty. “...Jamison?” She called, setting everything down on her small dining room table, freeing her arm. Her leather coat was removed as well, and adjustments to her left arm were made as she walked back to her bedroom to see if he was there.

Upon seeing the Rat looking so.. dapper. Like, 1920′s dapper! It made her hand literally fall off of her arm, since she had lost her grip on it mid-adjustment. “J-Jamison-- you--!” She bent over to stick her hand back on her wrist stump, face darkening in color. “I didn’t... expect you to actually wear it when I told you it was yours--!” She gulped for a brief moment, standing in front of the man, adjusting his lapel a bit. “For someone who, uh. You know, lived in the Outback most of his life...

You clean up very nicely. Not that I prefer it, though.”

Michael hadn’t expected to have to spend his day today towing crates back and forth. From the warehouse his team had purchased to their base was a task that was only fit for someone who could actually lift them. Of course, his teammates were more than capable to do it, but it was the fact that they didn’t want to.

Which left Michael all the hard work.

He wasn’t mad about it. Not really. Seemed like a stupid thing to be mad at his mercenaries for. But it did leave him annoyed. Then again, lifting these damn things did help the old man keep in shape, so it wasn’t all that bad. Dumping the crate into the back of the truck, Michael breathed out a slight sigh and stepped back, eying the Mann Co. label on the side…

Okay, maybe they weren’t ALL bought.

His eyes dart to the left, towards the rat that was excitedly popping the lids to see the inside contents.

                    🐽 another growl escaped the Junker before he took a deep breath in, trying to calm himself from the assault that he experienced just trying to wake the damn guy up. it was nothing and he had over-reacted, having experienced much worse in the past but damn if the guy wasn’t a scrapper. sometimes he felt it wasn’t worth the pay being stuck with Jamison and the shit he had to put up with, other times he felt neutral about it and could care less.

His smile didn’t leave his lips. He brought his legs together, straightening his back before graciously bending at the hip in a bow, his hands smoothly, dramatically doing a flourished motion simultaneously.

“Hello, dear friend. My name is Icarus Maven,” he purred, a snicker slipping between sharp, slightly bared teeth. He straightened up quickly, walking a wide circle around the man, his tail flicking behind him and getting a little too close to the stranger for comfort. A clawed finger tapped his chin, eyelids lowering in a mischievous look. His gaze seemed to be sizing the human up, lingering here and there without shame.

He finally stopped in front of him again, one hand going to his slender hip while the other gracefully animated his words.

As a child, he had been told tales of beautiful, yet frightening, creatures called merfolk. She had warned him of these creatures of the deep, yet he never truly believed her, nor listened to her. Instead he would spend his childhood hiding away, trying to just prove to his mother that there was no such thing as these marvelous creatures.

However, that boy grew up to become a man of science. Yet, the doctor never noticed how impacted his entire life had been by the supernatural, having never even believed in the entire concept since he was a boy.

That day he had headed out to a small beach by the North Sea to just relax, or to work on some ideas for later projects. It was a gloomy day, which meant the seaside would be empty. It was perfect for someone who wished to be alone while there.

Setting his bag down on the grey sand, the doctor started his usual routine for when he was at the beach. Walk around and find something interesting was usually first on his list.

However, when he started his walk, he didn’t expect to find the most interesting and unbelievable thing of all time.

“A... A mermaid?”
