“Whoever kills a person [unjustly]...it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind.”-(Qur’an, 5:32)
Three of our Muslim brothers: 17 year old Muhammad Adam Tairab, 20 year old Adam Kamel Mekki, and 23 year old Mohamad Taha Omar were shot execution style on Wednesday, February 24th. It was reported that they were murdered at an abandoned house the three of them used as a hang out spot.
Many of us also have our own “chill spot” that we may frequent with our friends; it might be your local cafe, library, or even park. What we have failed to realize is that this place that we often frequent to escape some of the stress of life, could also be the place where our soul escapes the body and we leave this temporary world. It is indeed an undeniable fact that death can come to us at any time, anywhere, and any age. We must not go about life wasting our time and letting this reality slip our mind.
“Every soul will taste death. Then to us you will be returned.”-(Qur’an, 29:57)
The loss of these three young boys is a loss to the ummah. To God we belong and verily to Him we shall return. But the death of these three boys is a reminder to those still living, to rectify our lives today. InshAllah this is an awakening for us to remember death more often in our lives and live our lives accordingly; before it’s too late.
