UPDATE/OUR FIX/OCTOBER HIATUS
Hey stickies- this is Jei giving you another quick update on what's going on for this month: First of all, both Nino and I want to extend a HUGE thank you to you awesome people for checking out our blog. We really enjoy what we do, so seeing such a great positive response so early in the game is a huge confidence booster for us. We will continue to bring you more ridiculous Korean and Japanese goodness for as long as we are able!Â
However!
Me and my super awesome talented friend GoldenEnigma are going on a month-long excursion to and through Japan! Since I do all of the post layouts, macro/meme building and all that fun stuff (thus my constant inserts in Nino's posts), we're not going to be able to do any updates! Nino is busy with school-stuff and I'm going to be too busy getting fat off of okonomiyaki and ramen. We'll hopefully be back onto our regular schedule for the second week of November (Hopefully- if Jet Lag hasn't destroyed me). If you find yourself craving more, you are welcome to visit our pinterest account which is full of K-POP and J-POP goodies. Or if you find a song you really want one of us to review, send it our way and we'll add it to our list! To make up (a little) for the lack of posting, we've decided to make a small list of things for you guys to check out: KOREAN STUFF: DRAMAS: City Hunter - Easily my most favourite drama next to Secret Garden. The soundtrack, quality, and acting is AWESOME. If you haven't seen it yet, DO IT. Warning: you will likely want to binge from episode 17-20. Make time for that. Rooftop Prince - A classic Korean setup involving people from ancient times somehow magically appearing in modern day. The movie stars Micky from JYJ, and both Nino and I fell in love with his acting abilities. His puppy-dog pout is hard not to fall in herp over. I Miss You - Nino has been binging this one (only to find out that Drama fever cuts you off after so many episodes). Warning: this one is a tearjerker from the beginning. In case seeing Yoon Eun Hye crying on the promo poster wasn't clue enough. MUSIC: Let's Talk About Love - Bigbang's Seungri's newest album, despite my first impressions, is very good. Come To My, Gotta Talk To You and Let's Talk About Love are great songs. Give this album a full listen to. Seungri will likely surprise you with his more mature sound. He certainly did it to me. XOXO - Exo's full-length album (the remastered/repackaged edition) is probably the best album of the year, in our opinion. These boys are so incredibly talented and come together to make a collection of fantastic music. There wasn't a single song that I rated lower than 3 stars on my itunes. Growl, Heart ATtack, Wolf, and Don't Go are my personal favourites. This is an album you will want to listen to from beginning to end on repeat! (I haven't felt that way about an album since GD&TOP's High High album)!!! Bangtan Boys - These guys don't have a full-length album out yet, but if you have a chance to listen to their music, we would strongly recommend it along with reading the English translations of their songs. Their presence musically and physically is incredibly strong, but with the added lyrics they just rock your world that much more. I've found lyrical quality in Korean music has been lacking in the last few years, so it's refreshing to come across a group of talented young people who are not only passionate about music, but they are intensely passionate about the messages they want to send.
JAPANESE STUFF:
DRAMAS: Unubore Deka: This has to be one of the funniest Japanese dramas I've seen in a long time. I watched this a while ago, but it's worth pointing out as being one of the best examples of Tomoya Nagase being absolutely ridiculous! If you're a fan of Ikuta Toma, he does an excellent job as a side character. In fact, just watch it for all of the ridiculous actors here. Buzzer Beat: I've heard a lot of good things about this drama, and I've seen about 10 minutes into the first episode so far. I'm not a huge basketball fan, so I honestly found the first bit pretty boring. However, after the basketball scenes, there were a number of funny moments that sort of made up for it. Most websites I've checked out have claimed this to be one of the better dramas out there, so if you're willing to sit through some basketball (or if you're actually a fan) I would give it a shot! MUSIC: OLDCODEX: An awesome J-rock band worth checking out! Their album Misfit Go is awesome!! Jinsei × Boku = - The latest full album from One OK Rock. This album is probably their best so far, in my opinion. This is another album that you'll actually want to listen to from beginning to end on repeat. A couple of songs on this album were featured on the live action adaptation of Rurnouni Kenshin! Golden Bomber - A Japanese friend of mine told me that these guys have recently climbed up the popular ladder in Japan. I checked out a couple of their songs and... well.. let's just say they're very different (if you couldn't tell by their whole image). Their music is pretty cool from what I've heard so far. I'll probably be doing a review of them in the future. However, be warned, if you are under the age of 18 you may find some... "interesting" images on google...
