Ieyasu groaned as he opened his eyes, blinking at the light filtering in through the shoji doors. Turning away, the cloth on his forehead slid off, bringing his attention to the person next to him; sitting upright with a tub of water beside her and a hand on his chest, he guessed that she must have dozed off while keeping vigil.

Still a dullard, like the day they got married.

Caressing her hand with a satisfied smile, he carefully sat up and poked her cheek with his free hand before gently kissing the top of her hair.
