It all seems to happen in slow motion. He’s out peacefully walking Dolly in the park, no big deal; the sun is shining, it’s not too hot, not a cloud in the sky. Birds are chirping, kids are playing, no parents are yelling. Not a single thing wrong is happening right now, and Chanyeol is blissfully unaware of Dolly garnering more and more interest towards a figure walking their way on the path.
That is, until it’s too late.
Like some weird version of 101 Dalmations, only with one dog and two Asians, Dolly barks and gets all excited. Chanyeol looks forward just in time to see Dolly leaping forward, prancing and dancing around the stranger -- which, of course, gets her leash caught up around the kid’s legs. And then, Dolly tries to come back to Chanyeol when he lets out her name in a surprised yelp, which then tangles him up in her leash, too-- and then Chanyeol has to wrap his arms around the stranger to keep them both from crashing to the ground, his huge frame shadowing over theirs.
It’s not enough. Dolly tugs, and they fall. Chanyeol manages to turn his body in mid-air, so that the poor, helpless person in his arms lands on top of his chest (and his back skids against the cement and ow, he’ll feel that later), safe and sound. Coughing a little, Chanyeol groans, head tipping back against the sidewalk, eyes clenched shut.
“Ghnhugh,” he murmurs out intelligently. Oh, there’s still a person attached to him. “Are you ok?” he asks, peeking down at them.
