The word of the day is Bone
Earlier today, I just found the right word that I was looking for with regards to a certain divination using bones. I was on the right track though, trying to put together Greek/Latin words, etc. Os/Oss is bone. Hence, ossuaries, etc. I didn't really think that I could use osteo because it sounded funny, like osteoporosis. Osmancer didn't sound as impressive, so I did a search on Google. Found a list of divinations and saw a painting called the Osteomancer. And damn, did it make better sense or what. Or maybe because it already existed. This event made me feel rather happy now, knowing that one of my OCs now has an official title to whatever sort of sorcery he's been doing.
I also learned that "mancy" isn't really the right suffix because it means 'divination' and not 'magic'; -urge or -urgy is the right one for that. Like metallurgy. But you know, people already equate the former to it more. Dang it, necromancy, what have you done?!
Anyways, I am happy. Harwell is officially an Osteomancer.
And before you even start imagining, no. Not the kind of osteomancy that Kimimaro does. Jesus, Harwell is a paleontologist and an anatomist; there are bones everywhere technically, even if they're miles underground and if he can't find a bone to use then he'll have to rip it out of you or someone and beat you to death with it. I'm pretty sure that whatever kind of 'mancy' you do, it's most likely about controlling those certain elements that are around you. To a rare extent, your insides may be involved. I'm saying this because I read on some material that cryomancers control the air and humidity around them; it doesn't say that they frigging turn themselves into ice golems or vanilla hot fudge sundaes on a regular basis. That's some crazy hoo doo alchemy you have there. Necromancers raise and control the dead; they don't turn into them just like that *snaps fingers* It's more of a...they got consumed by their magic-thing :\ Master the element, not give in to it.
