Red Kangaroo Osphranter rufus
The largest of kangaroos, found throughout mainland Australia. They eat mainly green grass and have adaptations to survive in extreme temperatures and arid conditions.
The red kangaroo breeds all year round. The females have the unusual ability to delay the birth of their baby until their previous joey has left the pouch. Young males fight by boxing, standing up on their hind limbs and attempting to push their opponent off balance by jabbing him or locking forearms. If the fight escalates, they will begin to kick each other.
