So I see the writing meme said 'pairings' but I don't know any of your ships so how about some sibling bonding with Diego and Allison for "Iâm right here. Iâm not going anywhere.â?
Oh yes I def meant in a sibling way. Also here you go hope you like it. (Also thanks for the ask. Wow how rude I edited it so often and never said thank you)Â
Diego wakes up in the motel room theyâve booked for the night. When heâd gone to sleep on the pull-out couch, with stains he hadnât wanted to think about any further, Luther had been next to him, his weight and slow quiet breathing a comfortable reminder that his family was still there, still alive, still with him. Now though the other sideâs empty.
Diego sits up with a groan and looks around. There is a pink sticky note stuck onto a milk carton on the table with Luther's round handwriting that still looks a little like he was preparing to get a good grade in calligraphy even though they had been 8 when Dad stopped making them do that.
To: Diego
Good Morning! Me Vanya and Klaus are headed out to do some research on Ben and the sparrow academy. Decided to let Allison, Five and you sleep. Hope your legâs okay, if not painkillers are in the bathroom. There should be some toast, peanut butter and eggs left for breakfast and weâll bring home dinner.
Luther.
Diego isnât sure if he should be annoyed about actually not waking up when three of his siblings (two of them not exactly the quietest people alive) have gotten ready and left or relieved because his leg actually is still splitting from the pain of a tractor falling on it, which apparently isnât healthy, who would have known?
He hobbles to the small (and kinda dirty) bathroom and gets the painkillers someone had left on the sink for him, swallowing two before he walks back to the living area thinking about what to do to help.
He decides to check on the other two remaining siblings first, they put Five in the âkids roomâ a fact he would have probably protested had he not been already half asleep in Lutherâs arm when they checked in. Heâs still asleep on the small bed curled up in the spongebob blanket, another sticky note has been left on one bed post.
To: Five
Keep resting!!! Weâve got it handled, don't worry. Weâre doing research right now. Vanya made you a sandwich if youâre hungry.
Luther.
Diego shrugs amused if Luther really thinks pink sticky note is going to hold their brother back he was dead wrong, though for now exhaustion was doing a good enough job of keeping Five at bay. The little guy seems really out of it, still he keeps the door slightly ajar as he leaves and makes his way to the bedroom where Klaus, Vanya and Allison had shared the bed.
Now he can only make out one body under the white covers curled up closely, only her dark curls visible pouring over the mattress and pillow.
He canât see any pink sticky notes anywhere in the room. He wonders if Luther felt it was too awkward to leave their sister a note with their history and how awkward shit got last evening but still it felt like a shitty thing to leave both him and Five a message but not her.
âWay to go Luther,â he mutters quietly to himself.
âWhat?â she asks. Her voice is hoarse. âOh,â Diego says and clicks his tongue. âYouâre awake.â âYes,â she mumbles and sits up. She looks like shit. Her eyes are all red and she honestly looks like she hasnât slept at all last night. âHave⌠have you been crying?â Diego asks her like it isnât apparent. Allison doesnât even bother answering him, she just shrugs.
Diego suddenly wishes that Klaus or Vanya were here. Or even Luther would be better at handling Allison and her pain than him. Heâs not good at this. Heâs never been good at this. And he and Allison had never been all that close with each other anyway, definitely not touchy feely enough to talk about all the shit that had been going on.
âSoâŚâ Diego starts and makes a face. âWanna get up? Have some breakfast maybe? Or⌠I could bring you something. Breakfast in bed.â âIâm not hungry,â she says. Her voice is flat now, like sheâs trying to undermine how upset she still is. Last night she realized that Claire (her daughter; Diegoâs niece; their family) is gone now, in this timeline. The only reason she even went back in time with them. Leaving behind what seemed to be a good life, though Diego hadnât really gotten that much of a look at it. Shit. He has to talk to her about this, doesnât he?
âSo⌠Ray seemed like a good guy,â he starts and as soon as itâs out of his mouth he wants to kick himself for saying it. âI mean⌠I bet he brought you breakfast in bed.â Great. Making it worse. Allison looks away. âHe was a good guy,â she says, then finally voice breaking. Shit. âGood,â Diego says and hums. âWouldnât want you to be with someone who wasnât.â What else can he say? âHey, Allison? Iâm sorry.â âWhy?â She asks. âFor the shit I said. At Dadâs funeral about your marriage, the other one you know? That was⌠couldâve handled that better.â âDiego, that was years ago,â âFor you. Just a few months for me. And no matter how long I was being an asshole.â âBeing an asshole is kinda your deal,â Allison tells him and huffs. âYeahâŚâ Diego bites his lip. âIt is, isn't it?â This is going really bad. âBut⌠maybe I donât want it to be my deal anymore. And maybeâŚâ he stops himself. âShit, Allison, everythingâs just so messed up. And itâs bad⌠but like... it's the worst for you. And Iâm sorry.â_ _He sits down on the edge of the bed partially because his leg _is _hurting him - thank you very much for asking Luther, too bad you forgot about asking about Allisonâs heart - and partially because he wants to be on a level with her, feels like thatâs better than just awkwardly hovering over her. âIâm sorry about Claire, Allison.â
Allison looks him over for a moment with her tired red eyes and finally says. âYeah. Everyoneâs sorryâŚâ Diego sighs. Why does he keep fucking this up? âI meant⌠I just⌠ugh, sorry. Do you just want me to leave you alone?â Allison looks at the ground and shakes her head suddenly fast and tears well to her eyes. âNo. Sorry, Iâm being such a bitch⌠itâs justâŚâ âHey!â Diego says and reaches out to pull her into a hug. âNo, youâre not. Itâs just upsetting and like⌠Iâm not helping and the others who could deal with this are all gone researching or whatever.â Allison sniffs but doesnât resist his hug. Heâs glad for that. Heâs definitely better at stuff like hugs than talking someone through shit like that. He rubs her back softly and then settles on her hair. âI just miss her so much. I never knew that I was capable of even loving a person that much but I did and then I was in the 60s and I just⌠I moved on. I just kept moving like I did when I left home and what kind of mother does that make me andâŚâ âYou had to,â Diego says. âThatâs what we gotta do, right? We need to keep moving to survive, right?â Allisonâs tears are running into his shoulder and she quietly sobs. âAllison, hey,â Diego says and cups her head a little. âItâs good that you moved on. Itâs good that you had Ray who was good to you because itâs what you deserved, it's good that you kept going, Iâm proud of you for doing it. Because you wouldnât be here right now if you hadnât kept going Allison but youâre also allowed to grieve now. Weâll do everything to get her back, thatâs why the others are out anyway, theyâre trying to do some research. Weâll figure this out.â Allison sniffled a little. âAnd what if we donât?â âWe will!â Diego assured her. âBut if we don't, you still got all of us, right? Weâre still here and weâll let you grieve and weâll support you through this.â Allison sobbed again. âSorry, for crying all over you.â âYou donât got anything to apologize for. I got you,â he tells her. âOkay? I got you. Iâm right here, I'm not going anywhere.â
