This isn't one of those "old people" observations about how attached we've become to our phones. I've just noticed how, recently, I've become almost paranoid about dropping my phone in weird places.

For example, if I'm getting onto or off of an elevator, I'm worried that my phone might fall in the gap between the elevator car and the shaft. Or if I'm walking on the street, I'm afraid that my phone might somehow fall through the grating of some sewer cover.
