Name: Perseus ‘Percy’ Alexander Black (’Perseus’ from the constellation and Greek mythological hero; ‘Alexander’ because Emme liked it)

General Appearance:

Personality: Percy is either the nicest Slytherin or meanest Hufflepuff you will ever meet. Emme made sure he grew up knowing that he wasn’t better than anyone else just because he was a Black (although Orion countered that at every turn) but Orion made sure that Percy wouldn’t take any bullshit from anyone either. Percy is kind to those who he thinks deserve it, but once someone is on his bad side, they’re there to stay.

Special Talents: Percy can sweet-talk anyone into anything. He learned how to be charming and persuasive from his father, and uses it to his advantage. He also has a talent for transfiguration and became an Animagus (taking the form of a black cat).

Who they like better: For every day things, he prefers Emme’s company. She’s a lot more relaxing to be around and has the ability to make him laugh easily. But when there’s an event or business deal that’s going on, he prefers Orion’s company.

Who they take after more: Percy is much more his father’s son than his mother’s. Orion and Percy have similar ways of dealing with people who bother them, and Percy isn’t above force, if it’s needed. He made sure people learned not to cross him, but he also ensures that those who have his loyalty know it.

Personal Head canon: Percy has a lot of Hufflepuff tendencies, but he was sorted into Slytherin and Emme is very grateful for that. It was a good place for him, and he learned a lot of life lessons there. (And a lot of people learned not to mess with him, which was good for them in the long run.) After Hogwarts, he went on to form a very successful business that transported magical artifacts around the world.

Father’s Day - Frank Turner

When you got home you didn’t want to talk about what I’d done.You said I’d let you down, I’d fucked around, when I was only having fun.With the way that you’ve been lately, you’ve no right to scream and shout.You and I, we’ve got a lot that we need to talk about.

She stared at him in the threshold of their home. Their home.  Really it was his home, the one he had grown up in and lived his whole life.  Another reminder that she had given up everything, sacrificed everything for him.  For the ungrateful, stubborn, disloyal son of a bitch that had been pleading with her for an hour not to send him packing.  Her response had been to throw his bag at him along with a week’s worth of clothes.  

“Walburga, please.”

“You don’t get to talk to me.” Her icy stare, full of all the venom she could muster.  The sharp feeling of tears stung at the back of her eyes, her lip quivering ever so slightly with the effort of holding back the monsoon that threatened to spill out of the corners of her heavily lined lids.  She had taught herself to be strong, to be hard.  To be unbreakable on the outside so no one could hurt her.  But she had made one exception and now she would suffer for it. 

“Love, you can’t deny me forever.”

“Watch me, Black.  No, you’re not even worthy of the name, Orion.  You’re the filth the Black family crushes under it’s boot.”  She couldn’t hold it back any longer, one burning stream of salty water curved down her face.  She cleared her throat, willing the choking dryness of sorry from overtaking her voice.  

“I get it.  I screwed up.  But I told you, I want to make it right.”  

“I thought you were different.  I thought you had worked through your drinking.  You looked but didn’t touch, your eyes may have wandered but your heart was mine.  But you’re the same.  You’re like all of them, all the rest.  The ones that go on and leave me behind, like trash tossed aside for something better.  Sirius, my parents, Cygnus, Braeden--”  

The name slipped out in anger, and her composure was completely lost.  Her eyes widened, complete and utter horror on her face.  She hadn’t meant... that was a name she had buried deep inside her soul, one she hadn’t thought in years.  She didn’t know what had caused it to become dislodged so quickly.  Certainly Orion was an idiot, a cheating, lying idiot.  But he was nothing like him. 

“Who the hell is that?” Orion’s voice cracked, desperation mingled with incredulity.  

“Get out of my sight.”  Her hand gripped the brass doorknob and her arm tensed. 

“Fine.  I’m going” He picked up his bag, flinging it over his shoulder. “But I’m not giving up.  I’m going to come back.  I’ll make it up to you somehow.  Damn, if I have to I’ll send a fully armed battalion to remind you of my love.”  Walburga looked at him for a moment, tears began pouring out of her eyes once more.  

“Maybe you should have enlisted that battalion to keep you from fucking your little protegee Mulciber.”  And with the rest of her energy she slammed the door shut, locking Orion out as soon as the wood hit the frame.  The sound echoed in the hallway, an empty sound that personified the aching hole that was left in her chest.  

February 1979

     SHE’D JUST ACHIEVED the impossible. She wasn’t sure if she could even do it - it was unthought of, something that could only happen in her wildest dreams. It was truly a feat, and one that she was glad she had accomplished because she needed it now more than ever.

                        Selina had just found a bookstore she hadn’t raided before.

     There was warmth spreading through her entire body and her eyes had regained their spark at the sight of books that had never been seen by her. Her fingers skimmed over the hardback spines, tracing along the words and drinking them in. It was intoxicating and exciting, especially since she was right at the entrance of a Dark Magic section.

     A part of her didn’t want to enter it for the simple reason that it was the Death Eaters’ weapon of choice and she didn’t want to be corrupted by it, but on the other hand, it was knowledge that she didn’t have yet. Selina hated not knowing, and she’d do anything for more - even browsing through books that could kill her if they were sentient enough, although when would a bookstore ever sell murderous books? That was just the Restricted Section at Hogwarts (which she was always concerned about, because there were children in that school who didn’t know about them).

     She stood at the entrance, internally debating if she wanted to stay with the safe books, or experiment with darkness and rarer knowledge.

    Marble blue eyes widened as a set gaze shifted to something new, as though he’d just woken from unconsciousness. In a way, he had. Antonin Dolohov blinked languidly, waking up from a blackout.

     This time, he sat in a straight-backed chair around a long, elegant table. Surrounding him were men and women in silver masks. A mask covered his own face, clinging close to his skin and suffocating the breath of air he tried to gasp. The meeting was over and Lord Voldemort was nowhere in sight now; but there was a dull chatter around him.

     It took him a moment to realize someone was looking at him, eyes visible through thin slits in his mask. It was apparent the other was waiting for a response.

     “I’m sorry?” Antonin asked. “You say somethin’?”

She sat, stewing as the minutes ticked by on the ornate clock in her sitting room, stirring the tea in her cup that had been generously spiked with whiskey.  She had shooed away Kreacher, telling him to retire for the night once his usual chores were completed.  She wanted to wait here, alone, nothing but her own irritation to keep her company.  It was how she liked it, fixating on her dissatisfaction with other people.  It kept her from sitting alone with her own thoughts as she drifted off to sleep.  

The door lock clicked open, and Walburga checked to make sure she was sitting in the most accusing position possible.  One leg crossed over the other and she smoothed down her dress, taking another sip of her tea.  She listened as quiet footsteps made their way inside, closing the door almost silently.  Walburga rolled her eyes.  Did he really think she wouldn’t hear him coming home this late at night?  Did he think she would assume he was somewhere traipsing about the house and she just hadn’t noticed?  

A silhouette appeared in the doorway of the room as her darling husband walked past.  With a sigh, she flicked her wand and wordlessly turned on the lights, hopefully freezing Orion in his tracks.

Everything Alecto knows about Orion comes from Sirius, therefore Alecto has never taking a real liking to him. However she used to be aware of the fact that he was probably a better father than her own, even though that isn’t a real achievement. 

Her opinion obviously changed a little when Sirius decided to turn against the entire pureblood society and life, in the young girls eyes Orion was the one who was mainly responsible for her losing one of her best friends.

However she’s aware that she can’t openly fight or oppose Orion, since his standing in society as well as among the Death Eaters is higher than her own, therefore she simply tries to avoid him.
