naga/lamia tail 2.0 - now finally freed from the basement!

i started this project several (SEVERAL) months ago, and ran into an issue where it would not rig correctly - the first 6 bones would rig just fine, but after that the weighting completely changed despite it being the exact same gradient weighting at the exact same spots with the exact same rig type all the way down. despite the efforts of me and several others to crack the case, nothing really worked in a decent way. i got a semi-functional rig from someone, but it wasn’t easy to use, so i instead abandoned the project for months.

recently, i got cobra tools working (which allowed me to rip from planet zoo) and an idea came to me: planet zoo has snakes as exhibit animals. would it be possible to rip one, scale it to the naga tail, and transfer weights in order to borrow the bones/rig?

lo and behold, this worked! not for the original version, mind you, but a much lower poly and much shorter version. that’s more than enough for me. if i get something that can be used without looking like i put a poor legless animal through a car wash, then i consider that a win.

any issues you may have with the rig or getting crunchiness at certain angles is not something i can solve. that’s up to god now. whatever happens to this thing after i post it is in fate’s hands. if you have any issues... idk, you got someone willing to donate blood for a ritual nearby?
