The Info Behind the Blog.
Dan and his longtime squad mate Gad are Only War characters. Generated from the Only War RPG Books. They are not god mods, they are human warriors, very tough, skilled and lucky but human none the less. I don’t really expect to be doing much rping but I probably won't turn away interested parties.
The 55th Nopus Close Assault RegimentÂ
Post-Cataclysmic World - Nopus
Nopus is a hell hole, a mix of Fallout and Terminator’s old school post ‘Judgement Day’ apocalyptic fair with the appropriate 40k twist.
While comparatively rare compared infantry regiments, Imperium does raise brutal dedicated close-quarters assault regiments.Â
The regiment’s commanders tend to enjoy getting stuck in the thick of it.
The people of Nopus live harsh and brutal lives, ever watchful locked in a 1000 year war with the unyielding machical abominations of an ancient heretical foe.
Cost:3
Between being hunted to extinction by cybernetic beasts and false men fierce and brutal cycles of infighting and resource wars brake out between the semi-stable human populations and societies, bloody wars normally settled with as little munition spent as possible. In these times the Nopites rely heavily on melee saving as many bullets, explosives and shells as they can for the real treat. Â
The Nopites drafted to the 55th are cherry-picked veterans of the Long War of the Machines and specialize in destroying the larger and more devastating war machines utilized by the endless enemy.
This world’s beliefs have stayed too far from the Imperial Creed. In Nopus’ case, it has been left; forgotten, unattended and beset by hereteks and their abominations for one long harsh millennia. Anything that once held the Emperors sign, the holy Aquila has been destroyed or lost. The ancient words of long-dead Echesarchs faded from minds, walls and books, lost to sands and jungle and ruins that share the surface. Replaced with a number of misremembrances, a pantheon of common saints called gods and a god above them. It is only now that the words have begun to return, with holy missions and in some cases holy fire. It is feared that these children of the Creed have strayed farther from the light than they let on.
Whether justified or not, this regiment has come under close scrutiny. Specifically in this case by the Emperor’s Holy Inquisition. For the above reasons, His Holy Left-Hand holds both concern and interest in this world, its people and most certainly it's actions a field in the meat grinder of the Imperial Fronts.
If you play Only War and wanna make a Nopus Regiment feel free, hell send me a message or link me a post of your regiments characters and exploits. I’d love to read it.
Nopus is a large terrestrial world with several contents and a verity of cultures and battlefield specialties. Don’t be afraid to step outside what I have laid down here and as stated these are the cream of the crop hand-picked by someone within the imperial structure. The only things I’d say are solid are the two Disadvantages and the Post-Cataclysmic Home World.
Things to remember when making a regiment, character or interacting with the Nopites.
They are from a collapsed Imperial world any order, traditional structure has failed in the last 1000 years. They’re a resistance, not a true military formation but a militia that has been staving off extinction with varying degrees of success for about ten centuries. With that has come to a lot of experience but they fight like a skilled and talented mob, not a drilled and well-oiled fighting formation. They are not the Cadians or the Mordians but more like the Savlars, unorthodox but let the right leash highly effective, all the skill but none of the style, more or less.Â
They tend to fight well together but have difficulties fighting alongside more traditional formations for a number of reasons. They are also to some extent quarantined they can’t mix with other guard regiments to make mixed/combined regiments. The 55th Nopus and the 3rd Devash can’t combine to make the 58th anything but they can combine with a remuster regiment like say the 5th Nopus coming to the same front or world.Â
They are well aware they are being watched from within and without by the Inquisition. The Inquisition is overseeing the planet, the regiments coming from it. Their performance, actions, and loyalties are under a microscope. Someone of power is deep in the Nopites as a pet project.
They receive basic training on the way to the war zone like most regiments. They are not wholly ignorant of rank structures, orders, and commonalities of Imperial Guard. They learn to operate imperial equipment and untiles imperial tactics as well as get a ‘better’ grasp of the Emperor’s Gothic.
They aren’t ignorant or simple just unknown to the ways of the Imperium. Most are technomats to the deep chagrin of the Admech, they are doing their best to fall in line with the Creed and the rest of the Imperium views, do to the nature of their overseers back home they provide some leniencies in a lot of regards. They are thick with commissars and assumably agents of the Holy ‘I’ the Admech are kept off their collective back for the most part and their resourceful nature is allowed to shine on the battlefield, scavenging permissible but scrutinized closely. Most xeno tech is off the table and the topic of heretical weapons is a complete and well understood, well respected NO.Â
