Iβm reading X-Men the hidden years. I knew it would feature Charles being terrible. I did not know that page three featured him digging into Scottβs traumatized head and having Magneto try to kill him while making fun of him for dying before confessing to Jean. Holy shit Charles sucks
Oh my god, I completely forgot about that but it's such a great comic for asshole Xavier. I can't just leave it at your great description.
This is AMAZING. Everyone needs to look at this bullshit.
"with all your passions unrequited, strangled as always by your fears"
Jesus fucking Christ, Xavier.
The best part though, to me, is this:
I love that they're upset, not so much about the mental fuckery, but that this is something that he would have done when they were new.
You know. When they were LITERALLY CHILDREN.
Amazing find. THANK YOU!

Summary:
Bobby never did anything out of ordinary. Never showed any sign that he might be different. When the world starts to change and new amazing things start to happen, he finds himself in the middle of a new conflict.
He's a mutant. And the world is changing. After his powers kick in, he has no choice but leave his old life behind and follow Professor Xavier to Graymalkin Lane, where he meets other people like him and train to protect other mutants from the evil of the world, side by side with his friends.
A of a novelization of the X-Men comics, following the Original X-Men from their formation, til the current days, based on my Earth-18104 timeline.

I love when Xavier yells at the kids for not being aware of or informing him of things he never taught them about in the first place.

I know I'm not the only Cyclops blog to highlight these pages, but WHAT THE FUCK?!
I could almost understand if Scott was the one who put Jack in here. Scott has internalized a lot of really fucked ideas on how to cope with things. And we've seen him do fucked up shit with holograms before (like having Viv create the Avengers to scold him, or programming the moment where he had to give Nathan up so he could watch it over and over again).
But that doesn't sound like the case, per Warren's dialogue here.
I am grateful to Warren for being well adjusted enough to call the Old Man out here, though. Indeed, programming your student's abusive foster father into the Danger Room in order to make him able to think under stress or taunting is indeed not cool.
Given that they all seem to have some idea of who the guy is, it makes you wonder what happened the FIRST time Xavier sprung Jack on them.
So one thing I really love about the Original Five in the future issues is how so many artists have such wildly different takes on Scott Summers's design, but each one works incredibly well for their respective contexts.
Take this one, from All-New X-Men #1:
This is the first look at Baby Scott that we get. Immonen's Scott here looks a lot like the Scott we see in the original issue that this is referencing:
I included the third panel because the resemblance is the most striking there. All cheekbones and suit that's just a little too big. A very young man trying to fill a big role and doing it about as well as anyone can.
I'm going to put the rest of these behind the cut, because this is a very image heavy post.
Iceman Origins
May I share part of a fic I was writing telling the origins of the Original Five in my own marvel universe? Based in "X-Men Origins: Iceman". The fic was supposed to focus more in Iceman, so it started with him and it would be tied with the rest of the Five as they are recruited.
(This story mentions others heroes, but they're not as important, just background)
