Random TF/Zoids ideas (that, since they're both owned by Hasbro, could easily be made to be a reality in-universe)
Organoids and Mini-Cassettes (whatever new name I'll give them, though I'm attached to the old name) are related to each other. Found on the evolving planet of Zi, Cybertronians took some of the lifeforms back for study. Given that many of the newly evolved lifeforms living on Zi were the size of most Cybertronians before rearing onto their hind legs (while countless others dwarfed them), the Organoids were the best option for studying at home.
The Cybertronian scientists soon found that, like the general wildlife of Zi, the Organoids were intelligent and living beings much like them. As studies furthered, Skyfire, the chief scientist spearheading the research project, learned during his time studying both on Zi and on Cybertron that the Organoids could store information inside of themselves as well as provide additional power to the native Zoids.
With permission from both his superiors and the Organoids, Skyfire and one fused - though, surprisingly, it resulted in the Organoid curling around his Spark and a mutual scan that gave the Organoid, upon disconnecting with him, the ability to transform into a small "disk" that could then be placed into a computer and for all to process/hear the discoveries made by the Organoid upon entry.
Further research proved that the change was permanent, but quite a few Organoids wished to do the same as Skyfire's new friend had. These volunteers had grown fond of Cybertron and its inhabitants, and soon, a new subspecies of Organoids that could merge into certain "audio ports" of a Cybertronian - usually the chest, though with ones like Skyfire, the Organoids went into openings in shoulders - became the norm on Cybertron.
Some Organoids from Zi had more mammalian forms than the commonly sighted dragon-like Organoids, though many mistake them for Saurian types. As the Golden Age of Cybertron faded, Skyfire's descendant Meteorfire, around the time just before the War began, was old enough to begin what would turn out to be a lifetime of work on Zi teaching and learning about Zoids, Organoids, and even, to an extent, the Ancient Zoidian lifeforms. Meteorfire doesn't mind how he and countless others end up "stranded" on Zi; in fact, he takes this as an opportunity to learn all he can about the species on the planet, including the non-metallic biological wildlife of the planet.
Two of his friends and fellow scientists are the twins Hammerbyte and Hammerstrike. Hammerbyte, though not as excitable over the wildlife as Meteorfire is, nevertheless enjoys it and performs deep sea recon and research, including the filming of the trio's show Zoid Hunt for their underwater segments while Meteorfire and Hammerstrike tune in alongside him. Unlike her brother, Hammerstrike has a more open excitement for the native lifeforms on Zi. Sometimes, she and Hammerbyte will both end up helping Meteorfire out as some of the more aggressive Zoids (when not affected by the Rare Hertz) go for an attack - or the biological wildlife gets uppity.
Meteorfire has a tendency to both wrestle and tussle with the Zoids they're familiar with. The Zoids love these chances for play fighting in order to improve their combat capabilities. Hammerstrike and Hammerbyte enjoy watching the scuffles before joining in by whim or by means of a stalking Zoid that wants more opponents to fight with. As effective "neutral ground", Zi marks a safe haven for refugees and has forms of energy that can be carefully turned into energon when alternative sources of food can't be found.
