Behold! The One Supreme Notebook of Medical Things
About 6 months ago, I embarked on a quest for One Supreme Notebook to contain all the medical things I need to keep track of. Ideally, it could keep everything in one easy-to-grab place, separate various specialists, tracks meds and symptoms, hold onto those pesky print-outs, and be endlessly adaptable and reusable.
And I think I've found it! I ultimately settled on a disc-bound notebook system since it you can easily add and change it as needed. However, unlike a 3-ring binder, it's much easier to find them in smaller sizes that fit more easily in a bag while still being able to get chunky.
The one I got is the TUL Junior-sized notebook from Office Max/Depot because it is pretty affordable, I like the add-ons available, and there is an Office Max near my house.
You can easily set up med lists, which can then be popped in and out for providers to read/copy/scan without needing you to write it out every time or answer verbally.
You can track symptoms and see the data at-a-glance in a no-tech space that doesn't compromise on privacy.
This is the spread I have for period tracking. The TUL pages have the perfect line spacing for doing a yearly 2-page spread.
You can use tabs to separate specialists/topics, use folders to hold print-outs (like test results) or business cards, and keep a pen handy.
Plus, you can add/move/remove pages anywhere at any time.
Other pros:
Several paper types available (dot, grid, calendar, etc.)
You can swap the ring sizes to make it even bigger (that's what I did)
You can buy the hole punch maker and DIY pages if you like
You can buy other organizational accessories like bookmarks, half-sheet inserts, etc.
Most disc-bound systems have some degree of interchangeability, so if one brand doesn't have what you like, you can look elsewhere
Cons:
It is bigger than a lot of "regular" journal-sized notebooks
You have to be a little more careful turning the pages
The pocket dividers are a wee bit small, so you may have to fold papers over more than once to get them in
The upfront cost is greater than other notebooks/binders. Because it is so customizable, most of the elements are sold piecemeal, so you might need to buy many components to get the setup you need. Additionally, the cover and disc pieces can get pricey depending on the material, but the idea is you never pay for the cost of a notebook/binder cover again.
You can't use regular hole punches to add pages; you need to buy a hole punch for discs or buy pages made for discs

Our apartment has a pantry. This is new to me. Not a pantry like, a small closet type space where you store your cereal and has doors, this pantry is a small-ish space that has shelves and drawers and our sink. And it means that most of our knives and utensils are out of reach of the stove and the table, where we need them. Thus was born the cutlery mug organization/decoration.
This kitchen organization solution isn't for everyone. There are plenty of people who keep their kitchens clean and organized so that it looks like they've never cooked a meal in their lives (and for some, this is the case). But for those of us who cook and eat in our kitchens, utility is the priority. Plus, this frees up pantry space for various tupperware containers, which means that when we reach for a container, it's in a drawer (formerly the silverware drawer), rather than falling off the shelf onto our heads.
