Fearne doesn’t even question the revelation. In fact, some small part of her gets a thrill from thinking that the story might be a lie when she notices a couple approach the desk behind them. “Well, I can sleep anywhere,” she replies with a chipper smile. “Even on the floor if you prefer, I’m a good sport.” She doesn’t expect them to be the chivalrous type for her, but she pauses to wonder if this could be an opportunity or set up for them. If so, she’ll push until he admits it.

It’s the first time they have taken watch together—which surprises Imogen.  As they both volunteer, she offers Ashton a warm expression and moves to join them on a small log just outside of the campsite.  Imogen pulls the shawl she had placed around her shoulders more tightly to her and rolls her lips together thoughtfully.  There is so much that she wants to ask them, but more than anything, she just wants to get to know them better.

“You know, I guess it’s kind of silly, but I never really considered a hot and humid place like Jrusar bein’ so chilly at night,” Imogen laughs and, subsequently, averts her eyes, realizing how ridiculous it is to talk about the weather. “Sorry. That was… stupid,” she offers Ashton a beseeching smile. “I think we’re beyond talkin’ about the weather, huh?” Her eyes turn to the sky above them, drawn to the two moons.  She may as well just move forward with what is actually on her mind.

A gasp escapes Fearne’s lips as she feels the fingers grasp her waist. She throws a smile over her shoulder to Ashton, her bright eyes sparkling with excitement. Their affection has largely remained private until this moment. Are they finally ready to let the others see just how much they vibe together?

Fearne hesitates, her fingers drifting just lightly above the webbing of the gold where it spreads down their neck and across their muscular chest. Even now as she becomes more comfortable with soft, casual touches to the Earth Genasi, she waits for consent to touch their scars. The webbing feels soft and smooth, almost seamlessly fused with the rest of their skin and her fingers wander from their pulse point and down across the muscles in their chest. Her eyes sparkle with admiration as they meet Ashton’s again.

Fearne stares back as Ashton stunned. She has never seen them so badly injured and she has seen them teetering on the edge of life. She blinks a few time to process before quickly pulling him into her and Orym’s shared room. “Ashton, what happened? Do I need to light someone on fire?” She whispers in the dark, a slight hiss of anger bubbling under the words. She doesn’t want them to think the anger is towards them, no, she’s prepared to combust whoever is responsible for the tattered frame before her.

A smile spreads across Fearne’s face. Despite being on opposite teams at the ball, she wondered what it might be like to walk in on their arm, and now she finally knew. A pleased blush on her cheeks, and a sleek pink dress on her curvy form, she loops her arm in theirs. Maybe they were only undercover, but the strange dance between them entices her to believe the night could lead to more.

A small, surprised squeal escapes Fearne as their hands grasp her firmly, managing quite easily to lift her off the ground and press her against the wall. Almost reflexively, her arms loop around their neck and she presses her lips ferociously against theirs. She nips playfully with her teeth against Ashton’s lips, all too delighted by the sudden aggressive action.

          he’s shaking .   fuck ,   he can’t stop shaking .   he can’t seem to get it under control ,   not when his mind fuzzes to the point where he can barely even see straight .   he can feel that he’s drifting in and out of consciousness ,   even though he wants to fight the urge to fall asleep .   he’s so tired though .   he wishes he could just rest and wake up in another 8 hours ,   refreshed and ready .   he wonders if this is even real ,   if this is just a frightening lucid dream that he cannot seem to shake off or wake from .

          his body is jostled and bundled into someone’s arms .   not a dream .   he recognizes the voice murmuring to him ,   sounding as if it is calling from far away ,   asking him to stay awake .     keep your eyes open and on me .     he struggles to obey ,   manages to crack them open enough to see the blur of green and gold and technicolor .   ashton .   ashton is talking to him ,   their voice echoing and phasing but the message comes off clear as day .   stay awake .
