This vegan orange cauliflower recipe is a better version of a popular takeout dish. After baking the cauliflower until it's crispy, it's covered in an orange sauce that is sweet and sour and is made with fresh orange juice and other tasty things. That's the best way to get Chinese takeout without leaving your house!
Ingredients: 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into florets. 1 cup orange juice. 1/4 cup soy sauce. 2 tablespoons rice vinegar. 3 tablespoons maple syrup. 1 tablespoon cornstarch. 1 tablespoon water. 1 tablespoon sesame oil. 3 cloves garlic, minced. 1 teaspoon grated ginger. 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes. 2 green onions, thinly sliced. Cooked rice, for serving. Sesame seeds, for garnish optional.
Instructions: Set the oven to 425F 220C and heat it up. Put parchment paper on the bottom of a baking sheet. Mix orange juice, soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, cornstarch, and water in a small bowl with a whisk until the mixture is smooth. Put away. Place cauliflower florets on the baking sheet that has been prepared. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until soft and lightly browned. Set the sesame oil over medium heat in a large skillet while the cauliflower bakes. Spice it up with red pepper flakes, ginger, and garlic. Cook for one to two minutes, or until the food smells good. Put the sauce that you've made into the skillet. Bring the sauce to a simmer and keep stirring it for about two to three minutes, until it thickens. When you add the baked cauliflower to the pan, toss it around so that the sauce covers it all. Add two to three more minutes of cooking time until everything is hot. If you want, you can serve it hot over cooked rice and top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Have fun eating your tasty vegan orange cauliflower!
